Right, the struggle is the fun for both parties.
Thing is people want to sub under that most of the time, and we talk it out and get very clear before we proceed since I don’t want these sorts of issues to crop up. They still do but there’s not much I can do for that.
Right now I want to be the sub in one of those RPs for once, and either way I can’t see either position as unwanted since both positions are perfectly open and engaging for both parties, they just need a little imagination like in any RP.

I’ve done several RPs in the position of the automaton/magical force and can safely say that this role has all of the freedom in the RP. They aren’t exactly limited, the limitation is the RPers imagination.
Usually when I end up doing these RPs in that role, it’s the ‘sub’ in the mix that tends to undersell their character. No hate to anyone but that’s how it ends up. : /

You know, you’d think so? And then things just entirely fall apart or carrying the RP makes it not fun to participate in. : / Especially with the time delay that comes with Fourm RPing on this site.
Or some people open up and outright say “Oh, I didn’t want this” somewhere in the middle of the RP, which sucks because I make sure to go over it with people what my expectations are and ensure that both parties agree to something comfortably before anything goes down.
Yet it falls apart. Seemingly always.
