except it is hulk has lost his head before and it grew back. Also several mutants in the marvel universe also have powers that have nothing to do with how their head works. many characters can survive decapitation. It was revealed as long as something was left hulk could and would come back.

Well that is quite simply not true. Nearly every mutant's power stems from the brain. That and they could not animate a battle of a few hours long. So they decided to take the one who'd win in the long run.
