I disagree it has great stats and it's flyiung/steel type moves along with one or two heavy fire moves makes him a god damn monster but you basically have to go nuts to train him perfectly. and mega charizard X destroys but I see we won't agree on this personally though mega gengar's my favorite.

I can name you at least 5 pokemon who would do better than charizard in every aspect. I know water types that wipe out grass types better. And no, because I used it. I used it quite a lot. Even with it's mega. It's predictable, slow, and lacks the power to be of any use.

I do fairly well with him I'm not overly competitive with I know there are stronger Pokémon but being able to one shot any grass/but type in the game is pretty fun. I agree the gen one games were undoubtedly the worst I won't dispute that at all I just loved the designs and stuff the best. Also I think you're hatred of charizard blinds you as to where he can be useful in competitive I always used him as a suicide canon send him in first dish out as much damage as you can to as many pokemon as you can and then let your heavy's clean up. I stand by there are much worse pokemon designs in later gens. ALso if we wanna bring up the show at all Ash's charizard is technically one of the strongest pokemon ever. except you know the show can't be consistent with anything at all.

Well as a competative battler I can tell you already that Charizard will get stomped by pretty much anything, and the fact that you use blast burn tells me quite enough. But that is besides the point. I used to love gen1. Until I played the game. And it was so, incredibly underwelming. I played every single generation. And each and every one was better than Generation one. It was bland, boring, lacked interesting characters. The only good character in generation one was flippin' blue, who I must admit is still my favorite rival. Except gladion. I know it may seem like I am shutting it out because of it's overratedness, but I am not. I am shutting it out because I genuinely dislike it.

That's your opinion but I disagree completely Charizard was the king of Gen 1 yes he was a cartoon dragon BUt he wa the carton dragon also in battle I had my charizard ripping people apart his special attack is incredible he's meant to be a glasss canon if you're getting half hped buy rock types you aren't using him right. no starter is better than charizard get the rage ability on him blast burner and watch him anhiliate the world. If you don't like charizard that's fine but he's better than a retarded fire pig that turns into a fatter wrestling pig. I don't get allot of later gen designs. But I see just as many gen 1ers shut out the good parts of later gens you block out much of gen 1 because of your own annoyance with fans of the franchise and their love of it. Personally the only grass starter that was ever remotely interesting was treecko because grovyle's line looks awesome. We're not going to see eye to eye on this I wear rose tinted nostalgia glasses but you wear black tinted ones of annoyance which is fair enough.

Well I just hate charizard because, sure, if people love it that's fine. But it doesn't deserve it. That is my issue. His design is mediocre at best, a fat cartoon dragon. (Yes I dislike Dragonite's design too, but he pulls it off, He at least looks cute with it, where charizard is just this fat dude trying to be cool). He is EXTREMELY weak in battle, barely held up by his mega evolutions. One stealth rock can half his HP, and he is weak to so much. Even volcarona, who has the same weakness to stealth rocks, pulls it off. Then there is it's shiny, which was just a f*cking orgasm for all of the edgy teen boys, which makes him look even more dumb! I guess it's my sheer inability to understand. I mean, every single starter is better. Why pick the failed dragon. Blastoise looks nice, and I respect him. Just like the handfull of designs I love from gen-1. Like Nidoking, Gyarados, Alakazam, Gengar, Mewtwo and Magmar.

I disliked bulbasuar's design he get's progressively uglier and less appealing he's a plant that turns into a bigger plant. I wonder do you dislike the gen 1 so much because of genuine dislike or because everyone loves it so much I think nostalgia plays a part in why people love gen 1 but I wonder if that same loving nostalgia has tainted your view a bit. I actually loved chandeluers final form I just used him for an example I dislike the inanimate object pokemon designs for the most part. I adore gengar and his line because he just needed to be a ghost nothing extra no bullshit just a ghost alikizam was just that a phsycic guy with spoons. I like some newer gen designs but I stand by the first three being the best. Do you hate Charizard because everyone loves it or do you hate it for some other reason because in that case your just as biased as most gen 1ers. (No disrespect meant just want to learn more about why you feel this way same as you did with me.)

Okay. That is the best explaination I got so far. But do you realize that every single pokemon from every single generation was based on something? That and I think gen-1's designs absolutely suck :P. I get your point, and I am also taking into account that you have nostalgia goggled permanently welded to your eyes, so I guess it's fine. I just can't stand the fact that you'd shut out the other generations. I mean, they're just as amazing. Generation 4 had an over the top plot, but the pokemon looked great! Generation 5 had a great story, but because they took a different tactic on the pokemon, people shut it out. Oh no, a pokemon based on a chandeleer, that is not nearly as bad as the earth-penis that turns into three earth-penises, or the giant bug that can't fly. Then generations 6 may not have added too much, but it has a lot of charms! And generations seven even called itself back to generation 1 in so many ways! Why would you shut it out! That, and bulbasaur is by far my favorite. If it were up to me they'd delete the charmander line as a whole...

believe it or not I support gen 1-3 I still think the first was the best however. Their was something badass in their simplicity look at pidgey it didn't need to be anything but a bird that turned into a giant badass bird their was no gimmick or real elemental showing off it was just cool. Same with the starters besides Bulbasuar or as I like to call him last pick. Squirtle turns into a giant killer tank, Charizard turned into every kids ideal dragon. Where as in later gens we have chandelier and ice cream pokemon. not saying gen 1 was all perfect look at muk and grimer but the majority of them were cool rather than silly Pikachu was adorable but riachu looked awesome. the designs didn't need to be more cartoony or more cute they just had to be cool sharp and crisp look at the ancient pokemon from gen 1 Kabutops is everyone's favorite followed by aerodactyle and they had pretty simple but slick designs and best of all they were all based on animals and old stories. Charizard was based on a salamander that grew wings Magikarp is about a fish that swam along a massive river and up a waterfall to become a dragon. then look at Magikarp completely uselsess before he evolves but when he does he becomes one of the coolest pokemon in the entire series. then Le's look at the shiny designs Charizard and gyrados just had a pallet change but Jesus Christ do they look awesome. Right about gen 4 is when I lost allot of faith allot of the designs are okay but now every series has the cute electric type Pikachu ripoff and the big dragon that never quite match up to the originals. I can't speak for all gen oners but that's my reasoning

Hello. You appear to be one of the many gen-one'ers out there. I don't get it. Can you explain to me what the appeal is of the first pokémon generation?

(In no way offence meant. I just want to know)
