On the contrary, often it is a strong emotion like rage that does not help you think and teaches you that the best reaction may be the one that is derived after calm, collected thought. For example, it would not serve a human resistance fighter well to attempt a direct frontal attack during the day against one of Skynet's heavily guarded fortress/factories in a fit of blind rage - It would be like committing suicide.
