To be fair, Lyra's world is more Skitzo tech with a victorian paint job. Some things are ridiculously primitive by our standards, like Telecoms and computers, but some is on par with us. I'm sure at one point in the first book one of the college professors mentions "Atom Forges", so at the very least they are advanced enought to understand atomic theory, and possibly more. And tech like the Aelithiomitre is far more advanced than anything we have. I guess it's kinda like a super advanced polygraph machine.

FYI, i'm not opposed to using plastic disposal nappies in the story but just a reminder on case you're unclear. In Lyra's world it seems like the technologies are Victorian or a sort of steampunk alternative. Tbh I don't think it matters if the nappies are cloth or plastic but just be sure Lyra doesn't get set down in front of a television to watch 'blues clues' in her world she's more likely to be given a picture book or maybe be shown a cartoon projection.

I think its gonna be fun when Will and Lyra meet up because they'll both probably talk about things from each other's world's which the other will never have seen.
