Well in the time period I'm setting this... It'd be before she got Shogo as if I recall comic canon right... Didn't she come across Shogo after she was turned a vamp? Not that we need to stick to cannon just saying I wasn't thinking about Shogo being even indirectly involved... But we can have that if ya want?

Or maybe we could go the route where Hank was working diligently on something as a gift to cheer Jubilee up and he wasn't aware of how bad Jubilee had it as he assumed the X-members and students wouldn't hate on her that much or the like and when he finishes ...he learns of the matter and knows what he needs to do to help Jubilee by going to her and being the best friend he can be

As for thoughts... Maybe Hank was researching varies things more seriously that could help Jubilee now that she is clearly depowered and when he finally took a break he realized it hadn't been afew hours but afew days or more he has been down in his lab doing science... which he didn't realize because he had grown accustomed to Jubilee doing things after afew hours at most to get him away from his work that is if she wasn't on a mission... regressed or out doing something... Which leads him to find the note after he had sleep that is … So him feeling bad he wasn't there for her decides to say screw it and deage himself abit so as to somewhat not be as noticed when he pads up and be in stuff that encourages Jubilees vices and offers to hang out with her and the like
