i didnt say he was gonna train only psychic pokemon i said he has hidden psychic abilities. even if they do seem small hes still a kid and might not be aware of these abilities kind of like how roxy from season 4 of winx club knew she was able to communicate and read the thoughts of animals but didnt think she was a fairy until she met the winx. max's powers might just be small because they are still new and only trigger when psychic pokemon are in danger or are just calling out to someone. and even if it was about max training psychic pokemon only their are several gym leaders and trainers i can list who have more then just the type they have in the games, brock only has 2 rock type pokemon, geodude and sudowoodo. onix doesnt count now since it had evolved into steelix.

true but max was the main one who helped them he became jirachis first friend, he helped explain that the meteor deoxys was born on was the cause of the electromagnetic interferance and causing deoxys pain, he helped a lonely shuppet by giving it company before its trainer came back after so long to pick it up, and he even risked his life to return the baby ralts to its family. plus he even bonded with gym leader tate because they both understood how it felt being the little brother. psychic type pokemon and trainers have a lot of mental power either intellectually or supernaturally or a little of both. max has shown he has intelligence he even remembers trivial details like how big certain species of pokemon get even carrying a measuring tape to measure out specific features when jessie and may were bickering whose wurmple was better. its possible his academic strengths may have unlocked some hidden psychic cpabilities which are triggered when certain psychic pokemon need help

lol. well then how about we get to the more concrete evidence. now think of all of the pokemon max has been friends with not counting any pokemon borrowed from pokemon trainer schools or his friends. these pokemon are shroomish, shuppet, ralts, deoxys, jirachi, and poochyena. four out of six pokemon are pokemon trained by psychic trainers (taking away the fact that jirachi and deoxys are legendary, and since psychic trainers train psychic and ghost type pokemon) and 3 of those are psychic types. also i think max heard ralts telepathically tell him thank you when max returned ralts to its family. because i swear after ralts said that max said your welcome after promising to come back for it when he was old enough
