Questions

Okay this is a very important thing, Diaperedanime needs some changes, after all it's chasing away artists. Now I want to ask, What needs to be changed? Added, or removed?
Now I can't PROMISE ANYTHING, but I can try and see what can happen.

Now personally, I do think we should have Quality control, not just Stories, but art and edits too.
Permission to post up art from artists ON THE SITE. As well as Crediting the artist if you don't.

I'll Edit and add more ideas as I get more but, tell me, what do you as the users think would improve it?

I think you brought up a bunch of the main issues, People not getting permission from artists to re-post their works, or people posting Artists works and not putting them under the correct persons gallery or not crediting them at all.

I think DPA could try and program in a requirement field that an artiest credit has to be put in when submitting art.

At least DPA isn't like Deviant-art where the Mods drag their heels when it comes to issues like art theift and not banning people who don't remove peoples works from their gallery's.

there really should be a control on the quality of art that gets submitted, many of the edits submitted look very poor and lazy in their execution.

Well I wouldn't want to discourage new artists. Perhaps there could be a new artist section that doesn't show up on the home page? A place where they could get honest critiques and improve. Something like that. But yes we should find a way to get artists back here :3

How about a better system in which to post art, and perhaps having the art verified by moderators and admins BEFORE they're posted for everyone else to see onto the site? Seems like the worst sorts of art end up being posted here.... and by that I mean that the subject material is deranged or that the "art" is done in 20 seconds by idiots in MS Paint. Half-assed edits, for one, serve no purpose here, or hell, ANYWHERE.

Be more strict on which pieces of art stay and which of those that are rightfully removed. That's what I'd suggest, I guess.

Ray: the problem with that would be that it could make art thieves get away with crediting themselves with the image, or (in the case that there would be some kind of bank of artists names) it would make it nigh impossible for a new artist to post their work.

Shadow: I'm not sure about forcing new artists into a thread that won't guarantee that their art would see the light of day. In fact having new artists' pictures show up right on the home page is the best way for them to get attention. Whether people are kind or decent in their criticisms though htat's more of something that should be in mind of all who comment.

I'd say LoneGrunt has the right idea.

I'd also like to add that one of the issues may be in attitude. There are a lot of people here, and on DeviantArt request art way too much, and there are a lot of artists who aren't okay with this. I mean Chibigirl it takes one nano-second to figure out you don't do requests and yet you are still harped on by countless people to make the pictures they want.

How about an instant messenger for better communication

Yeah, after Nino left recently...I can see why you would post something like this... the question we need to ask is why artists we know and love are sticking to their DA's instead of here...figure that out and it will fix a lot.

The first point would put a LOT of strain on the mods and admins, as one of the aforementioned staff that keeps to the shadows and tries to blend with the userbase rather than wield my opinion and authority. I think we need to have a more mature response from the community itself. We need users to ignore pieces of art they do not enjoy, and to report those that cross the line WITHOUT insulting the poster, or insulting those who may actually enjoy the art. As what is SUPPOSED to be an 18+ site, there is ALWAYS going to be an adult aspect to this. I, for one, would be whole-heartedly against the whitewash and removal of sexually arousing imagery based solely on the fact that this is a fetish to MANY users. Though we are not fapchan, this is one of the bastions of ABDL media in the community.

Being a fetish, there are those of us who view ABDLism sexually. I am one of them, though I do not approve of lolicon or other such fringe interests being openly posted and encouraged, I believe there should ALWAYS be a place for sexual imagery in our community, even the most "tame" images on this site could be sexual to SOMEONE. What a lot of users need is a thicker skin, to be able to choose what they want to view and be adult about what they do not enjoy. We may all have to grow up, but no one has to grow old. ;D

If someone does not like the "art" posted, they should choose not to look at it, not to openly whine about it, that is counter-intuitive to our goal. But in the end we MUST do something to ensure that all users, especially those who produce the media so beloved in this community, feel safe and happy with this atmosphere. However, what we must NOT do is to coddle, or over-privilege certain folk and disenfranchise others. While abuse of artists cannot be tolerated, just as ANY abuse must be faced sternly, we cannot offer special treatment to people, that is most important. We are ALL a part of this community. This is supposed to be a place for all of us.

To break it down,I, personally, as a member of the site first and as a moderator second, I see these as our most vital points to consider:

1: Community action to report and help to remove images that DO cross the line.
2: Definitive discussion of what materials do NOT cross the line but are too graphic to be allowed on the frontpage (perhaps a graphic image system, which i believe can be implemented to "hide" NSFW images (though isn't all ABDL imagery NSFW) from the users who do not like those images
3: I agree that there should be a section for new artists, and it should be monitored for polite critique and headed by ARTISTICALLY TALENTED staff who should be ready and willing to provide artistic assistance in application for those positions
4: The creation of a few "janitor" like positions, temporary "mods" to cruise the image section and remove uncredited, miscredited, and non-permitted media.
5: A revised and more distinct code of conduct, purely because we've been around long enough to make things even more official than they are. I know a lot of the site admins, or I did, and they are all vastly intellectual and intelligent persons with a great understanding of how to build a community.

When DiaperAnime was born, I was asked if I wanted to help moderate. Of course, given the chance for a position of notoriety, and a chance to serve the community I love, I accepted. Since then I have watched this site grow immensely. I may have fallen off to the side in recent months and years, but I've been watching. Through site outage and growth, decline and issue, I've seen us mature. More is expected and required for DPA to remain a brilliant site with a grand artistic, authorial, and social climate.

There are two things that primarily keep me from coming or contributing more.

First, every time I try to go to the forum, I wind up wanting to hurt myself. People who are obviously underage, people who are 13+ but still "under age", people who can't discern any color but gray, people who have no regard for gender or even good and evil themselves. There's not much that can be done about this, it's just the people that come here.

Second, sometimes I'll come to this site and look at recent updates, only to see it flooded with two or three dozen images(generally by one single person) that I not only dislike, but that are very poorly done from an objective standpoint.

In reference to the first point I made, there will almost certainly be someone who will now try to tell me that there's no such thing as "poorly done art", that all pictures constitute "art" regardless of its content or its creator's intent, and that the entirety of a creative work's quality and value are subjective.

I am however thankful for the effort and care that is put in to this site to keep it going, even bringing it back after almost certain death. It takes a lot of resources, not only time and money.

P.S. One thing I think needs to go are near-duplicate pictures. You know, the ones where someone posts two or five or more pictures that are almost the same, just edited a bit differently? The majority of them being not even original works, but edits or pasties in the first place?
