Based on that scene we agreed on with Cass and Babs. Like always, this isn’t to be taken as a script. Just a fun thing to share.

Batgirl slowly entered through the window of Barbara’s apartment, her suit was coated with dirt and dried blood.

She didn’t necessarily care, but she could definitely use a shower.

“Cassie?” Barbara murmured sleepily, the girl/woman who taught Cass how to read, practically naming her, got out of bed, walking over, crouching over Cass and fretting over her.

“You’ve been gone all day, are you okay? Oh, look at your suit…”

Cass’s cowl was removed to expose her confused face.

“I’m fine.”

Barbara continued to fuss over Cass, asking if she wanted a bath, if she wanted one of her sleeping toys.

“Barbara! Stop!” Cass interrupted with a hard and loud voice.

Barbara’s eyes widened, as if finally recognising the present moment. Her hands drew themselves back, wrapping around her body.

“I’m sorry for that, you can go.”

Cass didn’t leave yet, she wanted to know why Barbara was so concerned. She asked, and after a moment’s hesitation, Barbara answered.

“When you left to fight Shiva last year, you left a message for Bruce and I. You told me that I was like a mother to you. Do you… still think that? Even when I’m like this?”

“Yes,” Cass tapped Barbara’s forehead, “This taught me to read and write. Very grown up, even if your body is not.”

Barbara smiled tenderly, running her palm through Cass’s cheek. Cass relaxed into her touch.

“Thanks, Cassie. Even if I don’t look much like a mother figure, I can at least be your sister.”

Cass beamed, then walked over to the package near the dressing room, lifting out one of the pull ups and handing it to Barbara before pointing her finger at herself.

Barbara understood the wordless request.

Cass removed the lower half of her batgirl uniform, revealing her black underwear that she removed as well without any shame. Barbara held out the training pants for Cass to step in, pulling it over her student’s waist.

She adjusted it around so it was properly positioned.

“Do you want me to put you to bed?” Barbara asked tenderly.

Okay, sounds good to me.

Kind of a more sisterly thing, maybe. Cass still has that sense of admiration and resoect for Barbara.

What would their relationship be like now?

I have an idea for what happens after the Huntress visit section but before the Jim and Babs moment. Follow me on this: Night-time, Cass returns to the apartment, maybe her bat-suit is all dirty. Barbara wakes up, and maybe, out of a subtle fear that Cass thinks less of her, kind of… coddles over Cass? Cass tells her to stop and then they have a talk where Barbara’s saying something like:

“The night you left to fight Shiva last year, you left a message for Bruce and I. You said I was… like a mother to you. Do you still think that?”

You know, they basically sort out their new normal in their relationship. Maybe Barbara puts Cass to bed, all soft and sweet. I think it would be neat.

Just one of those things, I guess……………/
