Mhm. There's a lot of different things that go into making a game; I gather there's a ton of complex programming that is like an entirely different language, but there's a lot of other elements too, which are easier to grasp. I'd imagine a modern video game is a nightmare to make yourself, but as part of a team, especially towards the top, it's more manageable.
I actually tried programming a game myself, but I can't write any scripts for the life of me. Someone told me it's like learning a new language. Hopefully I won't have to worry about that, since I heard rumors about how the higher in rank you go in a certain job, the less work you do.
Mhm. It's good to keep a portfolio of ideas for when your creative means catch up to your creative ideas. Updating it to keep up with modern tech is good!
It is kinda frustrating to have an idea that would probably make for a fun game only to realize how hard it is to actually make one, though. I think it'll be really cool if you do get to make your ideas a reality. ^^
Thanks. I have plenty of ideas as to what I could do if I ever get a seat that high; several game ideas I constantly evolve to match the modern technology of games; I had an idea for a PSP game way back when that was popular, and now I changed it up to work on the 3DS. I only wish I could actually make it, though. )X
Mhm. Getting into the arts in nearly any medium is a really long and hope/luck-based process in the modern day, but your dream is a dream. Being a video game director sounds fascinating; I hope you have good luck with getting there.
That'll definitely help you in the long run. I myself want to eventually become a video game director, but my college years have been focused more around art rather than programming, and you need a few years of experience with video game to even get an internship of a video game director. Unless I make art for a company that long and stick with that plan, the. It might be a Lon time before that ever happens.
Yeah, I'm sort of there myself. It's hard to get a job, and I do have to admit being 100% honest I really don't WANT to do anything with my life but write. But writing to pay the bills takes luck and a lot of time, so I have to find SOMETHING I can stand in the slim pickings available near me. ._. It can be really rough, but I maintain confidence that it'll all work out.
Yeah, I'm still not sure what to do after college. I mean, I have a dream of what I want to be, but that versus what I should do first really gets to me. It makes it hard to decide how to spend my life.
Mhm, yeah, I'd say it's a contributing factor. XD Of course, I'm still working out when I tend to get on this site; it used to be later in the evenings, but lately it seems easier to come on for a while earlier...gonna have to see where that leads me.
Congrats on your upcoming graduation! I've found post-graduate life can be a lot more or a lot less demanding on your time, depending on how lucky you are with jobs. It's a weird time. @_@
