Well I was kind of wondering what all pokemon we'd have as the daycare staff, I think that's worth discussing

I think I like the daycare idea more as something a bit more simple. Gives us an opportunity to do a large variety of stuff in one small, central location

Could also do a sort of the mystery dungeon universe where the Pokemon talk and have clothes/society and stuff.

Actually, that gives me a kind of fun idea: A daycare full of rare alpha pokemon who think a trainer is a baby because he fits in the diaper for the larger pokemon babies they were trained to look after

I could see that happening with an Alpha bewear or ursaring

Hmmmm, one scenario I sometimes enjoy is a human getting found by larger beings and them just assuming they're a baby due to their smaller size and a language barrier.
I've seen it done with Ogres, but we could also do it with like some large humanoid fluffy animals

In addition to that, would you be more OK with Tom Nook being the primary caregiver if we genderbent him? Because my idea involves him/his personality and I think it could be a lot of fun
