Furthermore, whilst having the same first name as Spartan 117, John, Master Chief is a rank equivalent to Lieutenant, still classified as an NCO under the UNSC ranking system. During the time of the battle of Arcadia, Sergent Forge participated in helping Spartan Red team in taking down an energy shielded structure, and after the second battle of Reach, followed the Cole protocol and wound up with red team on a Shield World. None of Spirit of Fire has been seen since.

Also we've never seen 117's face, and we don't know his last name, and also he was kidnapped at age 7 and thus, couldn't possibly be John Forge.
