I like slow buildup, but I'd kind of like it if she took it a bit further than that to start with. Like, I'm fine if she says he doesn't need to use it, buuuuut it might be fun to also have her subtly not-so-subtly try her best to keep him from making it to the potty on time~

Well the idea I figured was she would keep talking about taking better care of himself, and the conversation slowly goes to their respective childhoods and father issues.
I thought of her mentioning that she always longed for a little sibling and had a special doll that she used to take care of. Then he starts to mention missing his mom and she "casually" mentions a "couples activity" she'd heard about.
I figure at first she'd start slow, just putting him in a diaper and telling him he doesn't have to use it. then they just sit around and play with toys/watch cartoons.

Also, what are your thoughts on how the babying should start? How far should she go at first?

I'd be fine with her pegging him on the changing table or otherwise, Also maybe riding him or giving him oral during changes.
