Draconic traits if you can get it under control. If not I'd imagine skin melting, feeling bones break and reform, body heat increasing to over 2000° and feeling every bit of it. Things like that.

Course, I can partially imagine the idea of mutations could potentially forcefully cause a bit of draconic traits to pop up here and there, but I imagine you also have some ideas for potential changes as well.

It is something that we don't show for a while in story, but have characters assume it means death, when in reality, death would be a much better option.
