Yup, I do remember the comic where I’m pretty sure it was the first time the actual comics suggested he was gay, All New X-Men with the time displaced version of him, coincidentally one of the first comics that pretty much completely destroyed Laura’s character. Jean called him gay and that was pretty much that. Bendis back at it again lol.

Nah that’s not quite what I mean, I don’t believe in bringing up things from like 200 comics and several decades ago, but I don’t believe in completely changing a characters past. And while I don’t care that much for a character’s story from the very beginning or old plot lines from decades ago I still believe in making a character’s story from a long time actually followable. I know they’re kind of conflicting ideologies so I guess it’s fair to call me a hypocrite even if you aren’t, so no worries lol.

Yeah I’ve always been against that style of writing myself, like I said the beginning of Laura’s comic appearances was an absolutely mess, and it’s because they decided to pick and choose when to make certain things canon and when not to, which just didn’t make sense and made it impossible to follow.

It’s also why it’s pretty much impossible to start from the beginning with comics these days. I mean if you wanted to read Logan’s full history of comic appearances in a reasonable and chronological order where would you even begin? He has like nineteen different origin stories that all overlap. I’m sure there’s comprehensive guides and the like to actually help with that but you get what I mean, without a detailed guide it’s near impossible to follow properly, and it’s also why there’s all sorts of messed up stuff you can either choose to ignore or choose not to. Xavier’s horrible fantasies, Logan’s pretty creepy relationship with Jean, Tony Stark nearly saying the n word that one time, the Fantastic Four being abusive and so on and so on. Clean cut storylines work best for everyone I would say, they’re less creative at times sure but they’re actually possible to follow.

Well if that’s the case that’s probably why people get away with trying to make Marvel do completely ridiculous stuff these days, they’re in a feeding frenzy, and if anyone tried to respond with actual reasons as to why they’re wrong or what they’re suggesting doesn’t make sense they just call em bigots and that does it.

Yeah I guess it would make sense in that case, and sounds like another case of older comics being fucked up due to the era, unfortunately not surprising.

Yeah like I said that’s my bad on the phrasing I should of probably elaborated on that, but was in the middle of something so I left my reply too short, so once again sorry about that.

And yeah like I said in the same way you’re pissed off at when dumb retcons like that happen when there’s no actual proof behind it I’m pissed off at Marvel for refusing to let Jubilee and Laura date, and I know refuse is a strong word but that’s genuinely what happened, the writer wanted it, a huge majority of the fans wanted it, neither of them were confirmed and it was within reason, which means Marvel actively refused to allow it. I know I’ve went on and on about it so sorry but I’m going to continue to be mad about it until they actually follow through on it or I die lol.

And yeah like you said there’s been plenty where it just hasn’t made sense, or where fans basically try to peer pressure a multi-billion dollar corporation into making their ship that doesn’t even make sense canon even when there’s no logic behind it, like the Cap and Bucky thing. So honestly I’d say I’m with you in being mad about that, it’s justified.

Oh nah I don’t blame you for getting mad, I shoulda phrased that better, that’s not what I believe at all, like I said I’m still pissed about the Laura and Jubilee thing, I agree that things like that shouldn’t be changed, but like you said Jubilee has never really had a dedicated a relationship like that, she’s had interests sure but not much else, so I wouldn’t say it’s a retcon, and the same can be said for Laura. So don’t blame you for that.

Well damn, that is pretty sad, and yeah that does explain why in certain books some characters just act completely out of character, god forbid they have non-straight relationships though lol

Agreed, as for now I was thinking she would have a nightmare about Jubilee which would result in her bedwetting.
