Thank you. Though you'll forgive me if I don't know what 'kinda a newby' means. Someone who's made one or two character sheets in D&D campaigns that never went anywhere before they could even start is a different kind of newbie than someone who can't wrap their head around the concept of a game played with dice.

For simplicity's sake we'll stick with core material.

The classes are thus:

Barbarian - Nominal tanky class. Very simple to play. Is illiterate
Bard - Support jack-of-all-trades class that can buff teammates
Cleric - Support spellcaster that can heal and/or buff teammates.
Druid - Also a support spellcaster, but worships nature rather than a deity and can transform self into animals or monsters.
Fighter - Hit stuff with big stick. Gains lots and lots of feats.
Monk - Punch things. Do not pick this class, it's bad.
Paladin - Holy warrior. Like cleric, but more fighty and less spellcasting.
Ranger - Ranged/Skirmisher specialist.
Sorcerer - Spontaneously cast spells.
Rogue - Huge list of skills, deals bonus damage from sneak-attacks
Wizard - Cast prepared spells.

As a newbie, I would recommend either Barbarian, Fighter, Rogue, or Sorcerer as they're the easiest classes IMO to pick up and play. Though my favorite class is Sorcerer, which i'll want to play.

What do you mean by that? I'm guessing he wants to be a player? If so...that'll be a bit more upkeep for me but I guess he could join. Just know that you'll have to post in a certain order to make it work so it'll slow down the game a bit more than if it was just one person playing it.

I had one where Blue forces the rest of her squad into diapers because Owen diapered, muzzled and restrained her so she could be shown to the investors.

I saw your recruitment thread. I'm a seasoned D&D player (3.5) and I am pretty familiar with that dungeon. Needless to say, if whoever the GM is is okay with it, i'd like in as well. I've actually tried running it on this site.
