The Gordon household was a fitting place. The place smelled of old memories and … was that caramel? In any case, Dinah was visiting Barbara. She was let out of hospital recently and she’d thought it’d be a good idea to just check out how things were holding up.

Knock, knock.

“I’m busy, dad,” Barbara snapped. Yikes. Bad move. Understandable.

“It’s not Jim, it’s me. You know, Dinah? We met at that police station ball?”

A pause. Maybe she was busy… luckily, Dinah brought a stipulation.

“I also brought a cupcake. One of the good ones too.”

That did the trick. Now allowed inside, Dinah observed the room. There were three coffee cups on the desk. The room was a tad messy, but not too bad. Sitting at the computer desk, clicking away, was Barbara Gordon. Her eyes were laser focused on the screen.

Whatever you do, Lance. Don’t say anything stupid. This is a major sign of trust.

“So, where do I put the cupcake?”

“Just on the desk.”

(Filler conversation.)

Barbara suddenly paused and winced. Dinah pretended not to notice it.

“Dinah, can you give me a minute. Something private…?”

Nodding, Dinah obliged, waiting outside the door. And from the other side she heard sounds. The private sounds.

Pants rustling down, the quiet crinkle of plastic, small whispered profanities. From inside, Barbara grimaced.

It shouldn’t be this hard, she did this before. The unfortunate necessity of her plastic underwear, as she tried to learn her new normal.

Emphasis on tried. Try as she might, she wasn’t able to pull the tabs off as she laid on her bed. She scowled. She used to be special. She used to dance, do gymnastics, be freaking Batgirl. Now, here she was. Struggling to remove the tabs on her… on her…

The door opened and Dinah returned into the room. Barbara instinctively tried to cover up her waist. She didn’t want her friend to see her like this. In such a pathetic state of being.

“Dinah! I told you this was private!”

“I know, I know. But I can hear you from outside and I can’t stand it. Now, let me see what’s up…”

Barbara sputtered protests. Dinah couldn’t do this. This was an invasion of privacy. She didn’t need help with this.

Eventually? She didn’t even want to look down to see what was going on. She just stared up at the ceiling. The worn ceiling that she’d been staring at a lot recently.

For her part, Dinah wasn’t being teasing. She wasn’t saying jokes or humming a little tune, she was just…

I even wrote a bit of it so I wouldn’t forget.

My mind is a library of ideas and plot.

The Huntress and Oracle one is basically that Canary is captured and so Oracle contacts Huntress to be “Hey, I know we’re not exactly the best of friends but we both like Canary, so I want you to help me out.” And Hel agrees.

The Dinah and Babs one is that Dinah visits Barbara when she’s maybe two weeks out of hospital, she brings her ahffin and they have a bit of small talk. Eventually, Barbara asks Dinah to give her some privacy, which is when she tries to “clean herself” in her bedroom. Dinah hears her struggling and comes in to help out.

Side note, do you remember the two flashbacks I thought of? One being the first Oracle and Huntress team up and the second being Dinah visiting a freshly discharged Babs and helping her out with her padding? I had an idea for how the second one is placed.

Maybe it’s during the undercover. Barbara goes to her room to look up information on the leader after getting inducted and Hel is like “Never takes a break, huh?” And Dinah replied “Oh, honey, you’ve got no idea.”
