Quantity doesn’t exactly mean quality. For example, sometimes too many words can be a detriment.

You want to find a sweet spot where your character feels active and alive while you yourself don’t feel exhausted by the post. Setting out to say a few specific things and then saying then well should be the goal of a post.

I’ll give you a few examples. Take the sentence “She walked down the hall.”

It has all of your necessary elements, but it’s a rather bland sentence. You can keep it short by adding flavorful elements without blowing it over. “Lisara walked down the hall, looking over the paintings to either side of her. They were sort of eerie, making her feel anxious.”

That is, howver, just flavor. Having your character contribute something to the plot is integral to making them feel alive in the story. This doesn’t need to happen in every post, but almost every time you’ll want your character to perform some meaningful action. “She stopped in front of an old ornate door at the end of the hallway, which looked somehow less old than the wood frame it sat in. Bracing herself, Lissara turned the cold knob and pressed it open.”

So what if they can’t perform a particularly meaningful action, because they’re bound? What if they can’t speak? Both of these things can be mitigated by pantomime and internal thoughts. “As soon as the door opened up, Lissara felt herself get pulled inside by a great force, as if a gust of wind caught her from behind. She opened her mouth to scream, but found that she couldn’t make a sound... Or close her mouth. It was being slightly forced open by something, something that wouldn’t let her go...” *Oh god no! I knew I shouldn’t have come in here...!” She thought as she whimpered, struggling in mid air as if an invisible snake had coiled around her...”

You just have to think about how you’d want to read it and go from there. Creativity is a fundamental of RPing, so you have to be able to manage on your own at least a little bit. Taking cues from your RP partner and context thinking are great ways to make sure you don’t run out of material, and you get more used to it over time.

I’ll reiterate, it’s not about length but the quality of the post. I happen to like a little more in my post for extra flavor, but your posts don’t need to be even a paragraph long to get your point across - Just a few we’ll placed sentences.
