Ah fair enough, no worries. Still that definitely makes a lot more sense, and yeah I could definitely see that being the case with Laura and Jubilee taking a hostage, sort of like Bob the Hydra guy lol.

And yeah they’re definitely both pretty interesting, I mean it makes sense since Super-Man is very marketable, especially back them. But I feel I can safely make the assumption they’re probably not exactly as good as the ads depict, usually brand-approved products that use popular characters as mascots are usually the worst lol.

And yeah I could see that fitting Jubilee too, would make sense that she would feel lost and without an identity without the X-Men at that point in the canon.

Yeah I would say that’s fair reasoning all things considered, and probably for the best.

Agreed on that, if they’re going to include something like that it’s necessary to commit to it or it’s abundantly clear that they don’t actually care about representation, they just want to use it as a marketing technique. And yeah maybe it could be fun to include her in the roleplay at some point. And yeah that’s reasonable logic, I haven’t really thought about it but I guess how I refer to them depends on the situation.

Yeah I remember hearing that before, and it’s right to criticise shit like that I would say, self inserts are god awful and I’ll probably never respect anyone who ever does that sort of thing, even if it’s fan content, I’m already wary of original characters but I stand by the opinion that nobody wants to read an author inserting themselves into a story and basically making them the main character of a franchise that already exists. I don’t toss around the term Mary-Sue often but it’s definitely applicable in those scenarios. Thankfully it doesn’t apply to Kampala’s case as she’s one of the characters that evolved past their crappy origins and improved over time like Riri. And it’s right to criticise how poorly they wrote the Muslim faith and sold out other Muslim heroes too. I don’t know if she was the first case in marvel but there’s a Muslim mutant that was Laura’s roommate and closest friend in New X-Men known as Sooraya Qadir/Dust, while there are still some slightly disparaging moments that are pretty iffy it’s definitely a lot more fitting and well done than Kamala, so if you’re interested in that she’s a good start for Muslim heroes. She even appears in a newer run of Champions to help them out despite not appearing much these days, which I think is the modern writers apologising for Kamala’s crappy origins in a way. So that’s good.
