Well I don't think Soul Society is meant to be a realistic model of a professional environment anyway, and even so with Momo not actually being his subordinate I'd still say it slide. Rangiku got away with calling Gin by his first name.

I guess. But I do think that if anyone Momo is an exception who should be allowed to still call him his name. She's obviously not trying to harm him with it, and I don't think Toshiro is that offended by it since he usually counters it with his nickname for her which is admittedly much meaner on the surface, and that sort of ties in that you get the respect you earn.
Compare how only until after Urahara trained him Ichigo exclusively called him 'hat n' clogs'.

Fair enough. Well, I suppose I can emphasize a little more with Hitsugaya since I do actually have a friend who had to deal with a nickname he disliked. It wasn't offensive or anything, but he made it clear that he did not consider it ribbing and that he really didn't want anyone to call him that.
But Yamamoto did care that they lost their Haoris, even though they are replaceable. People just get caught up on different things. Personally, I think they need to talk with each other.

I dunno I still think being hung up on what people call you is a very kid-like thing to do. I mean Yamamoto doesn't care that Kyoraku calls him "Yama-jii" or "gramps". Also Toshiro in general seems to be impersonal to people usually calling them by their last name which causes confusion in one scene when he refers to both Byakuya and Rukia as "Kuchiki" individually. When he's not calling her 'bed wetter momo" he's calling her Hinamori, her last name.

while true I think it's still a bit more wrong on Toshiro's end. Like he's taking himself too seriously and the real grown up thing to do is get over it lol.
