It introduces the Cutie Mark Crusaders, originally disliked and thought of as some sort of in-show spin-off, but later loved for their adorableness and creative personalities.
Oh, haha, not quite. A cutie mark is earned when you find your special talent, not as a reward for joining. Your cutie mark is you, not us! I can honestly say...I don't even think I'd have one if I was a pony. I have many interests, but no realization as to what I'd be best at.
If you check out the episode "Call of the Cutie," it explains everything about that. Early episode in Season 1.
I do believe the whole "love and tolerance" thing was originally to some a huge joke, and simply evolved into a true belief, which is pretty neat. We have our share of "ragers" too, but not of the same kind. Some Bronies go nuts when the fandom is picked on...very few, but there have been reports. Other than that, the haters are usually attacking US. 'course, most of them have never watched the show or are questioning their own sexuality and simply find a place to vent...yeah. Once they finally view the show out of "spite," they're generally hooked. Magic of ponies I suppose.
Well I definitely recommend watching some more episodes! True, great Producer, great voice actors, lovable characters, and it's not mind-numbing bull hehe. Course, the community is what gets me. Everyone's so talented and amazing, making this fandom one of the most...unique. It's definitely an experience.
