Since I prefer a hint of malice and embarrassment with my roleplays, how about the person who "Suggests" that Ellie wears diapers is also the one in charge of rationing equipment and supplies, and therefore also gets to decide when and if Ellie gets clean diapers?

Maybe it's a matter of practicality on her part? Sneaking through 'clicker'-infested territory is time-consuming and dangerous, and stopping for a bathroom break can prove fatal if you get unlucky. Perhaps she has an accident, and her travelling companion (Whoever it is,) decides that, for the safety of the group, she needs to start wearing diapers when they go out on supply runs and other missions?
Or maybe she starts wearing them herself on solo outings, for the same reason, but then gets caught up in some kind of crisis and doesn't have a chance to change into regular underwear? (She'd get caught by someone else, who decides to exploit her embarrassing situation for amusement and profit.)

I'd prefer to play Ellie.

Though I'm fairly certain it was a joke, (Because of course it was,) the quote you're thinking of went something like, "Ellie, are you alright?" "Besides the shit in my pants?"

If we wanted to eliminate Joel from the story, I'd say just send him off on an errand to another settlement or have him tied up and busy, I'd rather not kill him off.

Might be a few video games I'd be willing to give a try at. I haven't played overwatch, so it's off the table, but something else. (Most Valve titles, Fallout is always fun, TLoU, I dunno.)
