“I… accessed the criminal database?” Barbara answered, earning a finger snap from Dinah at her correct answer.

“Bingo, then you found a way to contact me and helped me bust a massive mob deal with Huntress. You formed The Birds of Prey. You became Oracle and had the god damn Justice League calling you up. And that’s not all you did. Remember Cass? That girl barely knew how to speak or even be a person until you taught her to. You gave a girl with no name and no clue on social interaction an identity and a sense of self worth.”

Dinah wasn’t done.

“And even now, when you got regressed into this, before you called me, what did I see you doing? You were at your wheelchair, typing away on your setup, working because you weren’t about to let a flower of youth stop you from working. And about a month after with some help from yours truly, you got back out into the crime fighting frontlines.”

Dinah stopped for a second.

“Side note, did you see that newspaper headline? You’ve got fans, Barb,” Dinah remarked before switching back to seriousness.

“I have said it a million times and I’ll say it a million more until your head finally gets it. You are amazing, Barbara Gordon, and there’s not a force on this planet that can stop that brilliant mind of yours.”

(Just some dialogue I typed for the therapy session, I thought it was worth sharing.)

“Barbara, you’ve done so well over the last three months. At the start you were worried and uncomfortable, but now you’re making a balance for yourself. Hell, you’re wearing training pants now. But… I’ve noticed that expression. When you wake up and feel an accident, when you stumble a bit when you walk, when you need to let go into Little Headspace, you look guilty.”

Dinah leaned forward.

“I want you to tell me everything, and know that I’m not going to judge a single thing you have to say. As I have said a thousand times: I am here because I want to help you, but not because I think you can’t help yourself.”

Barbara sighed, nervously rubbing her hands.

“Okay. I… have dreams. And in those dreams, I hear my voice, my adult voice. But she’s cruel, and hurtful. She tells me that I’m selfish and an embarrassment. That I’m using you for my… fetish.”

Barbara blushed ashamedly.

“I-I promise I’m not doing this whole thing for that, I swear, you know that right?”

“I know, Barbara. Go on,”

Barbara took a breath, adjusting her glasses.

“There’s a part of me… that doesn’t want to get better. Because when you take care of me, when you whisper soothingly into my ear, pick me up, tuck me into bed, I feel… safe. Safer than I’d felt in years, even before becoming Batgirl the first time.”

Barbara’s hand squeezed her leg tightly.

“And I feel terrible about that. Because I should be better, I-I should be better, I shouldn’t be wetting myself and crying about it. I shouldn’t need someone to coo in my ear.”

Barbara wiped a small tear from her eye.

“So… yeah. That’s my piece.”

“Barbara. I want to apologise. How you feel, it might be my fault. I’ve been taking care of you, doing things for you, at least at first. I made this routine. And I’m sorry. Call it Mama Brain,” Dinah snickered with no real amusement.

“But, here’s something you need to hear: You’re still you. When you got out of hospital, what’s one of the first things you did?”

Super, I’m thinking he could end up becoming interested in it so he starts going to the girls one by one asking them if they could be his caretaker.
