I think such things are matter of opinion in simplicity, and are subject to negotiation and interpretation. Nothing can define a relationship except what you do with it, and how two people (or more, depending on the kind of relationship) act on each other and how much they respect one-another.

Oh hey, sorry about that..! I wasn't meaning to imply you had any views in particular, I was just trying to communicate why I don't worry about authority personally.

And yeah, it's true I was a bit hasty, and I don't like making others feel bad (Which is why I felt a little bad)--though I can't really say I regret anything. It's true that I act differently when frustrated; more assertive for sure. But it doesn't really cloud my judgement in a way that makes me look back and wonder "Why did I do that?". I can see why you would read what I wrote that way though...

Yep, that one was my fault, sorry about that. :S

If Xero wasn't such a nice and fair person, I think that you would now be known here as "The Man in the Iron Diaper"
Well... I'm not worried either way. :P

The way I see it, the leader of a forum is not at all superior to anyone else. They have more abilities, yes, but also have more responsibility--people trust them to manage the community well, which is really stressful if things start to get bumpy. It's not fair to think of them as some faceless authority that simply makes rules and punishes people.

Because of this, I will always be as frank with them as I will be with anyone else. (Which is admittedly pretty tame to begin with because I try to play a diplomat more often than not when confronting anyone.)

On the flipside, its very easy to get on a bit of a power trip when you manage a community... It's easy to ban people for holding different opinions from your own or simply because you don't like them. This is why I think some people are hesitant to talk normally to people that hold any kind of power.

I can understand that, but I don't share it. If the administration situation was really terrible here (It's not, I think Xero does a great job..!), I would be happy to take my leave anyway.

But those are just my views.

He also mentioned very early on that he was not sure that changing the logo was possible (Not absolutely impossible) in one of his posts. Updating the logo may have a higher priority than other items for you, myself and other members but for Ai and Xero who run the site, it actually is not as high on their "To Do" list. All we can do is offer suggestions and hope that they will seriously consider our recommendations.
Well, I gathered that it was impossible...and that it would take way too much effort to pull off even if it was possible.

Mind you, I'm not mad at the outcome of the logo thing--don't get me wrong... I just didn't particularly like that Xero said that everything I claimed was false and prevented any dialogue past that. You see, I try to be as honest as possible, so when someone paints me otherwise, it frustrates me.

I am sure it was just an oversight and no malice was meant, but it still ended up being frustrating...Enough that made me want to point and say "Hey! You see that thing you said I was lying about? Check this out!". I actually sent a PM to Xero with my hack, and then when I got a response later I felt bad because I think I might have made him feel bad.

The thing is, internally, I kinda overreact to that sort of thing, it's my own mental hangup I've got to work on. I realize that. So, I'm sorry to say but, just try to ignore it. The last thing I want is for people to feel like they are walking on eggshells around me; so I am working on it.

I want to do things that make people happy, so this sort of thing isn't really becoming of me.

It happened a few times actually, the most recent time was here. It doesn't matter too much though, I really shouldn't be trying to make decisions for the site anyway; I was getting waaay ahead of myself.

It's funny how that works. That happens so often that there is actually a saying that goes something like: "The more you invent something, the more it starts looking like a wheel."

Then again, that isn't always a bad thing--because you can get to understand wheels really well if you do that. :V

I can see why you'd think that, but the two concepts can't really be related.

I guess if you are looking for something similar in an OO language, in Java, the closest thing you would find to the concept of CSS classes are annotations...

You see, at their core, CSS classes are just a piece of meaningless metadata that let you grab ahold of particular elements in a document of some form, whereas OO classes are templates for "Objects"; containers that group together relevant information for some purpose. OO classes also contain "methods"; pieces of code that can be used with the information in the objects a class creates.

CSS classes don't have inheritance, because they are just text, OO classes on the other hand can inherit from other classes, implement interfaces, or even be abstract so they can only be used by having something inherit from them.
