Jack followed Luke, and pulled himself up on the lowest branch of a tree next to the rock. He looked up at the tree above in wonder, as golden sunlight filtered through the leaves and shimmered across his face. He picked himself an apple, and took a bite. He wiped his mouth on his sleeve, and picked a few more. He folded up the front of his shit and held the apples in them like a kangaroo. He descended down and sat on the rock next to Luke, letting the apples spill out at their feet. He handed Luke one, and threw his arm around Luke's shoulder, and leaned his head against Luke's.
"I like it here too." He said with a warm smile to Luke. He sat in silence, a smile still etched across his face. He spoke after a few moments. "I wish things could stay like this forever... This is nice."

Luke took it and rubbed it on his shirt before taking a crunch out of it "nice , but hardly ours. Maybe we should find something like this , instead of being nomads and always on the move somewhere. I wonder who else is here in court. We got mrs and mr stabby , the tyrant and apparently the nice little cousin or something , there might be some more people about" he said thoughtfully as he took another bite "there's probably spies from other places , or maybe just some advisor to the king , who ain't here right now I assume." he said , remembering the note outside the church saying he had gone to claim a castle from bandits.

"Bound to be some interesting people somewhere." Jack said with a nod. "And if we act like nosy little shits and poke around looking for some good company, I doubt it will be out of character." He whispered. "We should be safe as long as we act like assholes. Which of course won't be too hard for me." He grinned and stood up, pacing around the court yard and poking at plants, while secretly looking around to see whether they were being watched.

"Easy for you , not easy for me, you take the lead in that one" he said getting up , tossing the core into the flowerbed "How about the main court room , bound for there to be a couple of people there we can talk to" he said leading the way , not really knowing where he was going. They passed plenty of guards , all who looked bored out of their helms. After some guesswork he found a large room that looked like what you would call a court room of sorts , a big chair in front of a window with a large table in front of it, two longer tables down either side of the room with a long carpet flowing down the centre. There was nothing going on so there was only a few people about.

Jack punched Luke's arm for agreeing with his statement, and begrudgingly followed Luke. When they entered the courtroom, Jack looked around in awe.
"It's taking all my self control not to yank this rug out from under their feet." He whispered to Luke with a snicker, pointing to the man in front of them. Jack eagerly approached, puffing his chest out and trying to look important.
"Excuuuuuuuuse me, you there." He said in an authoritative tone, trying to grab the man's attention.

The man was tall and thin , dressed in colourful and flowing silks of blues reds and oranges. He had long grey hair and beard , his hair tied back in a ponytail. His fingernails were pale white , long and sharpened to needle points. His eyes were slanted and lazy. His skin as pale as his hair but looked like aged leather. Held loosely in an aloft hand was a blue carved pipe. When he registered someone was talking to him his eyes swivelled round and he looked down "good afternoon children" he said slowly , taking a long inhale from the pipe "what ....might you be doing here, hm?" he asked looking them over "most....paupers don't make it into court....but I suppose that's none of my...concern" he said sounding weak and tired.

"Paupers..." Jack almost nodded in agreement, but quickly threw on an angry face to mask it. "I'll have you know we are Renley's!" He snapped. "Sons of Lord and Lady Renley, Second cousins of the very lord Rancor on this city. So I do suggest you check your tongue next time..." He huffed, crossing his arms.

"It is my job to know plots , but it is of no interest....to me what the petty arguments here entail.....Lord this ,Lady that" he said with a shrug "I don't need to check....anything. I see through the smoke and mirrors , it's common place ....back home" he said inhaling deeply to maintain his relaxed attitude "I'm simply here to observe and provide quick diplomatic relations....between here and the far easy. Mostly in the from of trade.....Secrets I've found are bad for business.....As such I see nothing more than the young lords children and nothing else" he said with a slack smile , revealing yellowed and sharp teeth "keep my in mind if you wish for supplies though..." he said with a weak laugh "but better familiarise yourselves w3ith the rest of the court , I'm hardly anyone....you need to meet" he chuckled, slumping down in a chair.

Luke puffed out his chest "well if you're so low then we should ignore you then like the pauper you are" he shot out , trying out his stubborn child act , although he never could get it right , too much good in him to be so bitter and cruel.

"You're right about one thing old man, and that's that we have better people to meet." He huffed, shaking his head and turning his nose up. "If reccomend your tongue be less free around us next time; I've half a mind to call in the guard on you right now." He growled, taking Luke's hand and starting to walk away in search for less rude company. In truth, the man seemed harmless and rather interesting. But he had to be a brat with a short temper, no matter how much he despised it.

The man just laughed softly before breaking into coughing and going back to smoking like a bonfire, whatever it was , it sure didn't smell like anything normal.

Luke followed , watching as he passed by "weird people around here. Wonder if he is just some trader or diplomat" he said shaking his head "maybe someone a bit normal looking" he said looking around "what servant do you have to imprison to get some food around here!" he shouted loudly looking around for some poor servant "and I demand drink , absolutely inhospitable this place is. I shall tell the lord all about this!" he shouted in anger , tapping his boot on the rug as he waited for some servant to fetch his request.
