wile i see alot of complants of bad grammer (mine included) i have a new idea to fix the problms my idea may be dumb but please hear me out

the best way to fix bad grammer is a educational rp area anyone who wants to volintear for teaching proper english in this new area of role playng realm would get to pm a mod/admin on basicly a page story to show grammer skill wile this can be denied or aproved if denied must wait 1 month to try agein if acepted the persons name becoms a new color that isnt used like purple or brown to symbol educator

in the the rp realm for education there can be a spot for educator reviews and a check or x by the person if they filled there time with students or looking for new ones

i figured this be a easy way to help the conmuity help it self im kinda dumb so i cant help but i know some vary ssmart pepole here and i feel this is how we can end the problm of bad grammer

in conclusion the best way to learn is to do and to have some one point out misstakes and forvced to corect the last post before a new one yes this is a slow idea but worth trying we cant limit who can rp and who cant with out law sutes or discrionation being screamed so those with a ear let them hear and those with toung let them speek

Idk about the whole changing of name colors and such, but if you want to post samples of writing I'd be glad to show you what mistakes were made and how to fix them. It's a great idea so don't be down on yourself!

Or you could check out Owl Purdue. https://owl.english.purdue.edu/ It's an incredibly helpful website; sentence structure, proper use of commas, semi colons, etc. Pretty much any question you could have about how to write is right there. The differences between There, they're, their; its and it's, etc.

Seriously give it a try. Use it for a couple weeks when you're writing and double check yourself. Roleplaying is really not the way to teach, and will probably just lead to more generic diaper conversations.

well i just had a idea it have inproved alot becuse of rp but i sugust this becuse i seen A few threads here 4 bad english and litrcey it just my idea i know kinda dumb ..... but complaining about problms dont fix them action will atleast thats how i think.......

I used to be a writing tutor. Teaching through telecommuting (such as forum posts) might help, Personally, I don't think it should really even be an RP that's being worked on for practice, or at least nothing that needs to be well thought out with characters or plots right away, mostly because you're there to learn, not to RP.

For instance, I'd be okay with practicing an RP with someone if it were something as simple as RPing about a dog and its owner. I'm being dead serious, too, because if you want to re-learn the basics, you have to start with the basics. No anime-based RP, no lengthy character names, no diapering scenes. Just start with something to get your written word more well thought-out and spelled better.

I like your idea of an education themed RP, so I'd like to expand on it, like for example a title like School At Sea, where it takes place at a normal school, but with a cruise ship built around it with multiple decks for dorms, classrooms, the lunch room and cafeteria, and other things like that, all the while maintaining a cruise like feel, so it would have normal cruise ship things, like water slides, pools, and an arcade, but those would be for recess.

SteamPanzer, you've written down exactly what I had in mind. It's the perfect place to start adding detail without sacrificing a potentially quality RP idea.

trevor, nobody's complaining about illiterate people. I know people struggle with spelling and grammar. What concerns me and other avid RPers is that there have been no signs of improvement in many of the RP's on the board. That's what causes us to shy away and form our own groups.

It's just like when I put what I feel would be a good idea for a new RP. Most people here won't respond, or if they do, they'll show me their past work, and as I look through it, there isn't enough of an improvement for me to want to start anything. But your idea for a practice RP could do the trick.

On that note, and to be quite frank, I do not mean to overly offend anyone but if offense is taken it is rather warranted in my opinion.


Many (not all of course) of the role play threads that are being updated frequently have hardly any consideration for the English language. I do not care whether there is a larger population of United Kingdom or American English speakers, it is still English! Besides being of very poor grammar they are also incredibly short. For instance "Sam got to the restaurant." instead of "Sam jogged to the restaurant, running into and jumping over various objects and people, hoping to make his date on time." Do not ask me why Sam is in such a great hurry as to abandon conventions of civility to make his appointment, I have no idea it was just the first thing that popped into my head. Hopefully though my point is clear, the detail is lost with such abrupt posts. I would give an example of the grammar mistakes I see but I cannot even form a sentence with such bad grammar as it makes my stomach turn.


I am not insulting any one person or even trying to insult anyone for that matter, it is just that the frequency of role plays I normally see with so little quality have finally gotten to the point where I needed to at least say something about it. If changes are made because of this that is great but I am not expecting any change to occur, I am just trying to bring to light the fact that the majority of this community could stand to improve their role plays. I do not mean seven paragraph long, formal English, posts but the consistent one liners, lack of description, bad syntax, etc. are not quality pieces of work. If anyone cares, I admit that this sounds more like whining than an actual critique and I am sorry for that but I cannot express myself well so this will, unfortunately, have to do. I also admit that there may be, and most likely are, errors in this post but none so like that of the critiqued material."

this lead to thinking of ways to cure the problm and this is just what i came up with and i still firmly belive dispite it being not one of myy best ideas something i feel is worth trying and belive me it takes guys to speek a opinon thats difrent and itd mean alot if Xero, Stoner, and AI would make a proto type education role playing realm to try this if it flops id be ok with that knowing it was tryed but the stronger role players seam to be demanding more then curanbt role players are giveing
