Padded In Space (Private between abdlguy and Rye)
 

It was the first day of Jacob's job on board the spaceship that deals with interplanetary travel and goods distribution. The shuttle itself was planet-side at the moment as there was refueling, shifting of crews, and dropping off and picking up cargo. The young cyborg was excited for his job as a cadet, a low level position that most everyone starts at. He was currently sitting in a room where orientation was being held, discussing the rules on board and how everyone should conduct themselves at all times and other such things.

Danny was also a cadet. Although a kind of lousy one. He was in the orientation. As far as he knew he had no idea why he was being made to go on the ship. The only grades he got high were shooting survival,and exploration. Didn't do to bad with diplomacy and blending in with advanced species but his real skill was with a blaster and the odd repair job. He guessed it was to give him some real life training but his skills were pretty much wasted on a ship. He had rosewood red hair , done in curled locks that he flicked out his his face. His eyes were a cold stone colour , closest to flint, with the same spark behind them. He looked rather feminine , but his body betrayed him where it could. He was strongly build , good core , but his overall shape appeared weak with his clothes on

soon orientation ended with everyone receiving a pamphlet about things one should know about life on board a ship. Jacob decided he would look through it later tonight after the ship has taken off. He walked around the room meeting and greeting the other newbies so that he could get well acquainted with everyone should the need for assistance ever arise. The last person he turned to was Danny.

"Howdy there, My name is Jacob Walker. First time cadet. You are?" he introduced himself and offered his left cybernetic hand for a hand shake. His prosthetic eye looking the young man over so to remember the name and face, though it came with a side effect of coming off a bit inhuman and creepy, a problem cyborgs have always had to deal with.

Danny looked through , he knew the thing had to be equipped with weapons , can;t just send a unarmed ship out into open space. Danny was still pouring over the catalogue where he found the weapons page. The Electromatic 3000, the tri-barraled disintegration rife and the low energy ionisr grenade launcher. Some pretty good stuff and packed a punch against any low class civilations and could hold it's own against raider weapons. "Hey , I'm Daniel , or just Danny" he said rolling up the magazine and sticking in his belt at the back , tugging his shirt over it so it was hidden and wouldn't fall out. His hands now free to shook Jacob's "Daniel Nicholson"

"Nice to meet you Danny boy." he joked, making a reference to an old Irish song. "So where you from Danny?" He asked, wanting to get to know his fellow cadet. "And don't be afraid to ask me anything as well, I don't mind any questions at all." He added, he wanted to look and be as friendly as possible, doing his best to avert the stereotype about cyborgs. "also, what are you working in, me I decided to go into medical studies."

"I'm wanting to go for combat and ground troops. Maybe Entomology" he said , taking Jacobs looks in. He was defiantly a machine. Although he wondered wither he was part human as well. Kind of a stupid question , if he was all machine he would be a robot. He didn't really have questions as such right now "Medicine , that's useful on any ship." he said , thinking already about when they were going to actually get to do something without people looking over their shoulders.

"Cool, combat is pretty neat." James said, rather interested by Daniel's choice in occupation. "Pardon me but what is entomology?" He asked, he never heard of it before. "They tell us that we got a week to settle in and get used to routine here before they set us loose, i'm looking forward to that. Well, I need to go get settled in at my room and meet up with my mentor. Good luck Danny, see ya at lunch." He waved good bye to his new friend and headed off to his room to unpack his belongings. When that was done he left the room and went to go find his instructor for his stay on the ship.

Meanwhile Danny's own mentor was waiting for his arrival, she was a field commander name Emily and she was decked out in combat armor. She checked the time and was growing board waiting for her student to finally show up.

"I know right , with lasers and stuff. Entomology , study insects , handy in you're on a planet with high oxygen and big bugs. Or on a class two civilisation and have to eat bugs and have no idea if it's safe. Also good to know how to kill them easier , or track , or confuse them." he said with a smile, happy to talk about his subject. Danny nodded and watched him leave , thinking not much of it and headed out , wondering what sort of talk he would get saddled with , heading out to get some food before going to find his mentor , unpacking could wait.

"Well. Thanks for gracing me with your appearance." Emily droned sarcastically. She got up and handed over a laser rifle to Danny. "Anyways, I'm Emily and you're boss. Try, and I mean try real hard, to show up on time or well be doing drills. Understand? I don't like being jerked around." She made herself very clear with DanNY and how much bullshit she will tolerate. Which is none.

Soon, it'll be time for the ship to take off, and first time flyers would be loosing control of their bladders and bowels very soon. Which is bad news for Jacob and Danny.

Danny nodded "yea okay miss. I'll do my best..." he said as he saw the rife and stared at it as it was landed in his hands "especially if I get to do something like this every time" he said , couldn't even look up he was too busy staring at it to pay attention. Didn't even notice the warnings for taking off. He just wanted to take his new toy out of a test spin against some targets, see how this baby actually handled , hoping it would be better than the crummy laser tag practise he got at the academy.
