Digimon Tamers: Don’t Make Bets (for xbuckyx)
 

It’s been quiet for the past couple weeks, too quiet. A new Digimon hasn’t appeared in weeks, this leaves the fiery red head named Rika and her partner Renamon on their guard even more lately. But she had no time to deal with that. She had a bigger issue to deal with tonight.

As a part of her promise to be nicer and be there for her friends, Rika hesitantly accept the invitation to stay at Jeri’s house to keep her company while her parents and brother are away. At first, Rika declined after stating that she wanted to patrol the city tonight, but her fellow Tamers and her partner assured her that they’ll keep an eye out and they’ll call her when needed.

With a giant bag of all of her needed belongings in her hand, the pouting Rika made in onto Rika’s property and at the front door. Making the pout disappear from her face, Rika hesitantly knocker on the door and waited for an answer.

"She here!" Jeri excitedly yelled. She was really looking forward to spending a bit of time with Rika as she didn't really know any others girls to hang out with. She had gotta some snacks and some video games out for them. She figured Rika liked that kinda thing.

Jeri opened the door a crack and slipped her hand out with the puppet on it to greet her friend. "Hello Rika! Are you ready for some fun?".

Rika jumped a little in surprise as the puppet was the one that greeted her instead of her brown haired friend, she sighed softly but forced herself to smile. “Yeah... i guess.” Rika responded as kindly as possible, not wanting to hurt her feelings.

The puppet took Rika's hand in it's mouth and gently pulled her inside. Jeri gave the girl.a hug and told her she was really excited to have her over.

She lead her to the living room and showed her the games and snacks. "I never really play video games. I borrowed the from my older cousin. I hope they are fun." She said sitting down on a cushion and bidding Rika to sit next to her.

“Ah!” Rika gasped loudly as she was pulled inside and into a hug by her friend, which Rika stifled a moan at. Though she didn’t like hugs and didn’t hug her back, the Tamer didn’t pull away and waited to be released. After being let to the couch, Rika put her bag down and joined her.

“I’m sure it’ll be fine Jeri, you worry to much.” She explained, looking at the TV to be greeted with the title screen of a game she’s unfamiliar with.

"I'll try my best.", said Jeri clicking the start menu. It turned out that it was a fighting game wit monsters that looked a lot like Digimon. One of the monsters was a cute little white puff ball that Jeri thought looked sweet so she chose that one.

"The characters look kinda cool Rika. I bet this will be fun."

“Yeah, me too...” Rika mindlessly said as she picked up a controller and selected a cool looking bipedal jaguar creature. “So what are the rules for this?” She asked, not being an avid video game player but she thinks she has the gist of how to play by watching people at arcades play.

"I think they just hit each other. I watch my cousin play it once. He could wiggle this little piece in cool ways." Jeri as she poked a bit at the joystick.

"FIGHT!" the computer voice loudly yelled in a way that shock Jeri as she wasn't paying much attention.

Jeri doubled tapped toward Rika into a dash move and got a headbutt and a few kicks in. She then uppercut into an air juggle. She did a clockwise semicircle on the d-pad while tapping both punch buttons and this shot a beam to finish the job.

The jaguar sat fell to the ground and the computer yelled "Flawless kill!".

Jeri gave a nervous laugh, "I guess I picked up on how my cousin does this stuff."

Rika sat there in shock as she lost faster then she could blink. She growled angrily, not the most humble of losers as she regriped her controller. “Ok! Round 2!” Rika huffed before looking at the girl. “But how about we make this more interesting?”

"How can we make it more interesting Rika? You aren't talking about betting are you?", Jeri said nervously.

Jeri didn't much like gambling and betting.
