Glitch In Your System
It was a regular run of the mill day in the digital world. Wind swept across the land in a calm fashion as the weather of the area was particularly soothing. What location? Why the location of Mimi and Kari, the two of whom had decided to come to the digital world as a sort of break. Given time passed much more quickly there than it did in regular world, they could enjoy some rest and relaxation there a bit longer than they would elsewhere, besides, it was a good excuse to come in and just take a glance at things, after all, you never knew when something was going to go wrong, not that they were hoping it would, but it was always better to be on top of these situations than to suddenly find out about them when it was too late.
Kari smiled as she rested her back up against a tree and stared at the clouds passing by. She always loved the landscape of the digital world, like nothing on earth and always ever changing. It was so beautiful. Her and Mimi had decided to take a break and come for a visit, it was too bad that Gatomon was off somewhere else in the Digital world. "I always love just watching the sky and the clouds go by here. I'm so glad we decided to have a picnic and make a day of it. Today is just perfect." She said to Mimi, but little did either of the girls know that deep in the code that was the digital world a surge of random data was about to cause problems for the two girls, human visitors in this world of data.
Mimi thought that it was a pretty nice day, she pondered briefly about what things were going on in the digital world, but only briefly, then her mind was drawn back to where she was now, with Kari. "Isn't it? It's a gorgeous day here and it's so nice to be able to sit and relax here." she replied as she enjoyed resting on top of the soft grass, feeling the light breeze occasionally sweep past her hair, letting out a small sigh of contentment as she enjoyed their time together. Idly she looked up to the sky, watching the gentle white clouds gracefully slide along through the air, smiling lightly to herself.
Kari smiled back at her friend as she took another drink from her water bottle before pulling out her camera and stood up taking some photos of the landscape. The girl would never pass up the chance to get some good photos for her scrap book. She was looking through the lense when she saw what looked to be a video glitch but when she put the camera down it was gone. "Huh....what was that....." Kari said out loud wondering if it had just be a trick of the light. She went back over to Mimi and sat back down, not knowing what was about to happen to the two girls.
Mimi was more than content to just lounge about enjoying her time, it wasn't as if she had anywhere to be and besides, even if she did, well, she didn't, but she was where she wanted to be. Just a nice day. It's then that she noticed Kari take out the camera, watching her friend put it to her face to use it. "What was what?" she replied as Kari spoke. "Did you see something?" thinking Kari had spotted something through her camera lens in the distance, scanning the area around them, Mimi didn't notice anything or anyone, looking at the clouds, those didn't seem to have any peculiar shapes. So she wondered what Kari was talking about.
(Do you wanna start the glitch or do you want me to)
"I dont know, I was about to take a picture and it looked almost like a distortion in the lense... But then I put the camera down and it wasnt there...everything looks fine through the camera now, so maybe it was just how the light caught the picture." Kari replied with a shrug, nothing looked weird or out of place now. "I mean it is the digital world...we have seen so many weird things happen here that nothing should surprise us anymore." The girl laid back against the tree and started staring at the clouds again. |
"Distortion? Like, in the air?" Mimi asked, not knowing what Kari was talking about in the slightest, but it didn't seem to be much of an issue as her friend laid back. Deciding to not even bother with her herself, Mimi resumed lounging about much like she'd already been doing, but it was just at that moment, it happened. There, in between the two girls the same odd distortion like thing Kari had seen through her camera lens manifested. It spiraled out in tendrils of red and black squares and shapes. Distorting the colors seen next to and around them, both tendrils touching Mimi and Kari for a split second before disappearing in an instant. It didn't hurt to be touched by it, but Mimi got a very, wrong feeling when it had, becoming somewhat nauseas as it happened, letting out a sudden shrill scream when it did. "W-what was that?!"
"Yea...I dont really know how to describe it....." Kari replied as she laid back with Mimi. The girl only caught the distortion out of the corner of her eye before it happened. The girl screamed and tried to scoot herself back away from the thing but it all happened too fast. As soon as the thing touched the girl she felt a sinking feeling in her stomach, it almost made it want to vomit. The thing disappeared as soon as it had appeared as the girl looked down at herself looking to see if she was ok. "I dont know, I dont know....Im ok...I think im ok....are you ok? what happened?" Kari said in a bit of a panic.
Mimi tried to calm down after that ordeal. "I, I think so. I don't feel all that great though." she stated as laid out on the grass, just hoping the sickening sensation she'd felt would pass over her. "Some weird, block, shape, thing. It just appeared and touched us, I don't know why, but I know it couldn't have been good." she spoke, the initial panic of the situation leaving her as she tried to calm herself down. "You think, maybe we should get out of here? I don't know what that thing was, but I don't want to run into it again." she surmised.
Kari had her eyes closed for a bit trying to get the sinking feeling to go away, before opening them in failure. "Yea...me either...my stomach is in knots..." The girl said as she went to her bag pulling out her D-Terminal and started a scan of the area. "Well nothing seems to be wrong anywhere, all the readings are normal. I mean we are in the digital world, its kinda like a big computer...it could have just been a graphical glitch.... Im not really sure why it touched us...but aside from feeling uncomfortable.. I think were both ok." Kari replied while looking around, trying to be positive, but even she was a bit weirded out by what just happened. "Maybe going home is a good idea...."
