Shadows New Life
 

It was a clear warm summer day. The birds were singing in the air, and kids were playing in the park. It was just one of those days we're nothing could go wrong.

Amy, the pink hedgehog, stood in front of the workshop of Tails, her friend and soon to be adopted brother in law. She had something important to talk to him about but he was taking forever to answer the door.

"Tails!" She said pounding on the workshop door.

A young fox was underneath a machine. He was busy tinkering around with it. Tails, one of Sonic's first friends, loved to create devices and other things. This often led him to work even during warm summer days such as this. Sonic often teased him about this even now and tried to basically drag him out of his workshop a couple of times.He was giggling to himself at how the blue blur just recently got engaged to Amy since there were times he rejectef the notion of settling.

"Huh?.....Owwwwq!" Tails responded in confusion before the loud knocking caused him to overreact and hit his head.

He got out from underneath the machine and headed for the door yelling annoyed at how his unknown visitor kept up with the loud knocking , "Coming! Geeze! I heard the first knock!" The yellow inventor opened the door while rubbing his head.

Did you hit you head Tails?" Amy asked seeing him rub his head, "You should be more careful while working in there. What if you got really hurt? You'd be there alone until someone came to find you?"

The young fox teen sighed a bit at seeing her worry for him. While the unannounced visit that gave him the little accident annoyed him a bit, he blushed at seeing her act motherly over him like this. "Uhhh.. Well I kind of hit my head because I suddenly heard your ...uh...really long knocking. But I'm fine." Tails said awkwardly, "Wait, didn't Sonic gave you the spare key to my workshop? Sometimes it felt like he practically lived here so that's why he has them still."

He muttered to himself, "And by living here, I mean that black hole of a hedgehog eating my food...."

Well... I didn't want to be rude and just barge in. I'm not your sister quite yet." She said with a warm smile, "You got time to talk?"
(I'm home now so I can actually RP)

Tails chuckled as he shook his head, "No problem, Amy. To be honest, Sonic barges in here quite a bit so I am kind of used to it." He smiled at her concern. It was quite the contrast with Sonic who was a lot more boisterous.

The yellow fox answered, "I got time. Something wrong?" He decided to tease a bit, "Got pre-wedding jitters because of Sonic? "

(Oh, I didn't know. Where were you if you weren't home? )

(At work XD.)

Nope. After all the years of chasing him you couldn't pay me to not get married to him." She said smiling as she walked in, "This is a out a different hedgehog."

(Ok. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of job?)

Tails smiled at this. While there were times she was a little annoying with her chases, he did admire the fact that she waa persistent and willing to put up with some of the blue hedgehog's less desirable traits.

Her last statement caught him off guard. The fox teen asked, "Uh, which hedgehog? "

(Walmart)

Shadow." She said looking at him a little nervously, it was clear she was a little nervous about talking to tails about it.

(Stockroom or cashier?)

Tails noticed the nervousness in her body language and tones when she answered his question. "Yeah. Uh, what about him?" he asked not sure on which emotion to use in response to her sudden change.
