I got one of these, and I clicked on it, but for some reason, the notification won't go away. Is there something I need to do to get rid of the notification?

It sounds like you clicked on an unread VM, supposedly causing it to be marked by the system as a read VM but afterwards for some reason, the notification for that VM didn't go away since the system still considers it as being "Unread". Based on what I found in the official vBulletin forum (See the following article, especially posts #6 and #7 -> here), it looks like the problem might be resolved if a query were to be run against the site's db to find the orphaned records in the table that holds the notification records which are causing the calculated(?) tally in the Notification counter for the total number of unread VMs to be incorrect. Afterwards, those identified "Unread" orphaned records could be removed with a SQL conditional DELETE so that they are no longer counted in the calculated(?) tally. It is not something that you, as a user, can do since you don't have access to the site's db. Either Stoner or Akuma would be the person to handle the task. Stoner would probably be the better choice since he visits this site daily while Akuma visits here only occassionaly. VM or PM Stoner and ask him to investigate and fix the problem that you're experiencing. I hope that this helps!
