Amity Blight, the top student at Hexside, was on her way home, having gotten her latest test results back.

In Blight Manor, her mother Odalia sits on their living room couch nonchalantly sipping a tea cup. She had already called Hexside to find out Amity’s grade and was waiting with a surprise about it.

Amity entered her home and saw her mother sitting in the living room. "Hello, Mother."

"Ah Amity," Odalia says, setting her cup aside. She appears calm, but her voice has an edge that Amity recognizes all too well. "Do sit down, dearheart. I believe there's something you need to show me?" She pats the side of the couch next to her.

Amity tensed up a little, worrying she did something wrong. She hesitantly sat next to her mother and dug through her bag. "W-Well... I got my test back today, and I only got a B on it."

Odalia's eyes narrow as she takes the paper and then looks back at Amity. "You know a part of me was really hoping your teacher had misspoke when I called them earlier, and yet here we are. Just what do you have to say for yourself about this young lady?"

Amity looked down in shame. "I'm so sorry, Mother. I promise I'll study even more next time."

"I'd like to believe that, Mittens," Odalia says, while standing up and starting to pace in front of her daughter. "But frankly, it's become quite difficult for me to take you at your word given your recent behavior. Your drooping school performance, that little display at our investor's special, and of course other...decisions." Odalia gestures at Amity's pink hair with the test paper.

"Is it so bad that I want to do some things I want to do because I care about my friends?" Amity retorted as she stood up.

"Ah yes and then there's these 'friends' that you're spending so much time with," Odalia says, her calm facade replaced with a full scowl. "They're clearly a poor influence, especially that human."
