Even in the 21st century, Antarctica remained the only one of Earth's seven continents which was not permanently inhabited. Nonetheless, periodic trips to it were made annually, and in recent years, people as young as 16 or 17 years of age could make an expedition.

Right now, an expedition team from Japan was being joined by four teenage girls, all here for different reasons.

Highschool dropout Hinata Miyake was going for the thrills. Celebrity Yuzuki Shiraishi was going for her career. Shirase Kobuchizawa was going to find any clues of her missing mother. And their leader, Mari Tamaki, was going simply to go someplace new.

Naturally, as they began to stir at this moment, it was quite a different experience.

Indeed, Antarctica was very different from their native Tokyo, but it had proven to be quite an enriching experience thus far.

Mari yawned and stretched as she awakened.

Hinata was already up and about. "Come on, Kimari! Can't waste the whole day away!"

"You're certainly in a really good mood."

"Aren't I always?" she said with a snicker as the taller girl got out of bed.

Mari got out and didn't think about the fact that Hinata would see what was around her waist.
