The United States of America had never had a royal family. But there were certain households who had made a name for themselves, earning them status of a similar standing.

Indeed, one notable family, among the biggest and toniest names in New York City, had attained status long before, something sustained even through the Great Depression.

Although many people had lost their entire life savings in the Crash of 1929, they had stored most of their bonds and funds in overseas Swiss accounts, ensuring their fortunes had remained intact.

Right now, this particular morning, after the lean years of the '30s and in the afterglow of America's victory in the war, they were going to undertake a new chapter of their lives.

The family's matriarch awoke in her bedchamber, yawning and stretching with the utmost grace.

Evelyn Chapman then made her way over to open the curtains. She stopped for a moment to look at her sleeping husband, Gordon, before moving to check in on her daughters, Annette, Della, Faith and Wanda, who now had officially become young women and marrying age by this time.

Be that as it may, no matter how old her daughters got, Evelyn would always see them as her little girls, and she had ways of ensuring they always remained so.

Annette, her oldest, was still fast asleep and sucking her thumb, a telltale foul smell emanating from her.
