Jenny's Joyful experience (Private with Perdente)

Nurse joy sat at the diner booth casually sipping an iced tea as she waits for Jenny to arrive. The two of them had been dating for a little over a year now after having been close friends essentially as long as they could remember. For the most part everything was going perfectly, but there were a few issues that Joy felt was time to iron out. Among them the fact that she'd been waiting for Jenny for about half an hour now.

She was always late, not that Joy really minded that much, well more that she understood why. After all they were both full time hard working woman, but Joy did have a bit of an edge in that she could essentially hand duties off to her team of Chanseys and Blisseys at a moment's notice and trust them to handle everything just as well. Jenny worked with Pokemon but they couldn't exactly run the police station by themselves. So Joy had gotten fairly used to waiting up for Jenny, but honestly it wasn't that that bothered her so much as how she worried her girlfriend was overworking herself.

She glances up to see a waitress approaching with their food. Joy always ordered for Jenny in advance, which was easy as she always got the same thing. Of course this lead to another issue she wanted to bring up, as nice as things were between them....it was getting a little boring. Jenny was a very orderly and structured woman, but seemed to take this to the point that she never felt motivated to venture out of her comfort zone or experiement.

Thankfully, Nurse Joy had just the "treatment" to assist her girlfriend with both of those ailments.

Jenny's shoes clacked against the hard floor, making quite a bit of noise in the rapidly quieting location. People seemed to straighten their posture and speak more quietly around her. She probably should've taken off her uniform... but she was already late.

She sat down across from Joy, not bothering to pick up a menu. She didn't know this place, the date was all by Joy's design, pretty standard as far as that went. She leaned back in her chair, putting her feet on the table, crossing her arms.

"Sowwwwwww," Jenny said, pursing her lips as she held onto the sound, "What's... uhhh... Have you been here before... uhhh... what's good here?"

She didn't exactly know how to start this discussion. It was a bit awkward being half-an-hour late to something Joy kept emphasizing the importance of.

Joy watches her girlfriend stumble in and try to appear casual as she sits down. It was honestly kind of cute.

"Jenny dear," Joy says, gently pushing her feet off and gesturing to the approaching waitress. "We came here last month. I already ordered your usual." She says as their plates are laid down. "So I take it work ran late?" Joy says, gesturing to her uniform, which as usual wasn't in particularly good condition. Further cementing Joy's concern about her spending too much time on the job.

"Yeah, some idiot's poorly-trained machamp mauled a fire hydrant," Jenny scoffed, "I'm sorry, that's just always a whole thing. I had to redirect foot traffic, make sure nobody brought their fire type... they plugged it up, I had to change my shoes, and... well... now I'm here."

Jenny raised her eyebrow at Joy's comment about coming here before.

"Did they remodel?" Jenny asked, "Ah, whatever! You wanted to talk about something? I don't see any reason not to put it off."

Joy shrugs and sighs, leaning forward and crossing her hands.

"Jenny, I know you have a hard job. I also understand how important it is," Joy says as she casually starts to dust her salad with parmesan. "But honestly you're working far too hard. I mean I honestly can't remember a time you arrived to a date on time." Joy is keeping her tone calm and casual, and fortunately they're in a corner without any other people in the adjacent tables.

"Ha!" Jenny replied, smirking, "I don't think this is about that... I'm sure you're concerned, but even when I was on time, there was something on your mind. You made the same face. So, what is it?"

Jenny didn't like secrecy. She was something of a skilled interrogator, she was pretty good at getting the truth out of criminals. But Joy was different. She'd been asking, and asking, and it didn't feel like Joy would budge. It kind of worried her. Was there really something so shameful that Joy couldn't her, of all people?

"Go on," Jenny said, "Spit it out."

Joy is a bit taken by Jenny's response, but recovers quickly.

"Well that's fair, I suppose I haven't been forthcoming in my own way," Joy replies with a shrug. "But that does bring us to the second thing I wanted to talk about. To be blunt, I think we're in a bit of rut. I mean when was the last time we did something different? We get dinner, we go home, watch a movie or something, and go to bed. I love you Jenny, but I worry you need to learn how to branch out."

Technically speaking, Joy was being completely honest, but omitting a few specifics. She had a certain "branch" in mind, but was still a little nervous about presenting it to Jenny.

"What, you wanna see the disturbing amount of video games I own? I don't imagine they'd be too much to your liking," Jenny shrugged, "I do that because I don't think you'd be terribly interested in what I do on my downtime. I play old video games that my cousins and I fought over, watch TV, and sleep. My job's a bit too exciting to afford me anything more exotic than that. I feel burnt out, I just want to relax. I'm cool doing something you want to for a change, if that's what you're saying."

theJozza May 20th, 23 12:38 AM

"Well there is something," Joy says before picking up her fork. "I think you'll enjoy it and it will be a good way for you to relax a little as well. However I think I'll save it until we get back to my place." Joy says with a wink and starts eating, hoping that Jenny will follow suit.

Jenny practically shoves the Pasta down her throat upon indication, beyond curious at this point. When she finished, she took her napkin out of her collar, and wiped off her face, before extending a gloved hand.

"Why don't we walk and talk," Jenny asked.
