Through the Looking Glass, A Pokemon RP (Private with theJozza)
 

Brendan, Champion of Hoenn, found himself trekking the way back in Littleroot Town to visit professor Birch. As he was walking along the road, however, he noticed something that he hadn't thought about in a while. The first time he'd ever met May, his girlfriend, it was in front of a pond just like this. It had an almost unnatural shimmer.


He found it too alluring to resist.


Slowly and cautiously, Brendan approached the pond and looked inside. He could almost feel it beckoning to him.

Suddenly, the pond starts to glow and the water rises out, almost like a hand. Wrapping around him. He's pulled into it, a tiny giggle, both playful and mischievous, in the background as it all goes black.

Melanie, a Cinderace and member of the town's security team, was doing her normal patrol route in the surrounding forest. Normally she'd be jumping and dashing around, enjoying the exercise, but now she was just walking as she was very distracting. Her wife's, a Lopunny named Delores, birthday was coming up and Melanie was at her wits end trying to figure out what to get her. She loved Delores with all her heart, but the Lopunny wasn't particularly easy to shop for. As she comes to a bend in the path, she sighs and shakes her head.

"Oh darling, if only I could give you what you really wanted..." She thinks out loud to herself, remembering a rather disheartening trip to the doctor's they'd taken a few weeks ago. As she's contemplating, her long ears twitch as she hears something in the direction of a nearby pond.

Brendan shouts as he's engulfed in glowing water, yanked through the pond. Strangely, however... its contents don't quite feel like water. Air still runs through his lungs, and he doesn't even feel all that wet, despite being... underwater. Regardless, he feels himself being pulled by a current of not water, but some sort of magical force. Given everything he'd seen on his journey nine years ago, however, he doesn't find this terribly surprising.


Eventually, Brendan finds himself ejected out of the pond, having landed on his bottom. He looks over his clothes to find that they... somehow aren't wet. Regardless, he brushes the dirt off of his pants and stands up. Looking around, he notices the trees, road, grass, and even the pond are all... slightly larger. Not by much, but enough to be bothersome. He looks around for a moment, before finding a massive pokemon right in front of him.

"Gwah!" Brendan jumps, "Y-You're a Cinderace! You guys aren't native to thi-... Hey, aren't you supposed to be a lot shorter?"

Melanie walks around the corner to the pond, before immediately jumping back as she sees the water surging out of it. She takes a combat stance and starts charging a pyro ball attack, but stops once she sees the water retreat, leaving behind....something. She tilts her head as she looks at the strange creature.

Melanie had done a fair bit of traveling before she got married, and on top of that their town was a fairly large, well populated, and in an area that saw a lot of traffic from other towns and even regions. Suffice to say, she'd met a lot of different Pokemon over the years, but she'd never seen anyone like this small creature before her. She tilts her head as she looks him, at least she feels like it looks male, over with a look of pure confusion, which only deepens when he opens his mouth and spews out what sounds like complete gibberish to her. Fortunately, she was at least able to recognize the fear on his face when he sees her, so she immediately drops her combat stance and drops to her knees, which puts her only a couple feet above him now.

"Please, don't be afraid little one," Melanie says calmly, raising her hands to appear as non-threatening as possible. "I promise I won't hurt you. Do you know where you came from?" She asks, though as soon as the question leaves her mouth she realizes that if she can't understand him he might not understand her either. However, as she's kneeling, her ears pick up a slight hissing sound coming from the strange little thing and she notices a growing wet spot on the pants he's wearing. Melanie's eyes widen. Was this creature she found...a baby?

Brendan hardly even realizes he's wetting himself as the form of the massive pokemon approaches him, slamming down onto her knees and starring at him quizzically. As soon as he hears its questions, however, he seems to light up a little bit. Perhaps it knows what's going on! Maybe it could even help him get back?

"I know this might sound crazy," Brendan says, having no idea whether or not she can hear him back, "But I think I just came out of that pool over there-"

Brendan points to the pool.

"Do you know if, like, some major event, festival, or legendary awakening happened around here?"

Unfortunately for Brenden, while he was somehow able to understand what Melanie was saying, his second attempt at communication sounded just as much like incoherent babble to the Cinderace as the first one had.

Even more unfortunately, this lack of understanding, combined with him seemingly not noticing his wet pants and confused demeanor, has served to convince Melanie of her belief that she's come across an infant.

(Well whatever he is i certainly can't just leave him out here, plus I should really tell the captain about this,) Melanie thinks to herself as she stands up, while also slowly sliding off the coat of her uniform. With a quick, but gentle, motion, she scoops Brenden up and proceeds to wrap him up, as being a fire type her uniform had a little extra insulating layers to keep it from burning up, which thankfully made it softer.

"Please don't be afraid, little one," She says calmly as she swaddles him. "I'm just going to take you somewhere safe while we figure all this out." Once he's fully wrapped up, she rests him in the crook of her left arm, while using her right hand to pull out her communicator. "Hello? This is Lieutenant Flare-Leap to headquarters. Captain Michael please respond," she says calling in for the leader of the town guard.
