The Demon's Prisoner (A private RP between Samiel and Cardiac88)
Algol could not remember how long he had been in that cave. Truth be told, he couldn't remember much of anything.
He stood at an imposing twenty-five or so feet tall. His hair was a a long, shaggy brown mane that hung in unkempt strands to the middle of his back, and from his temples sprouted two curling ram-like horns. His mouth was lined with three rows of razor sharp teeth, and his upper body was humanoid in shape, with orange skin, his powerful arms ending in crushing hands tipped with razor-sharp claws. His legs were those of a goat, complete with hooves the size of buckets. For all intents and purposes, he seemed like some killing machine summoned from some dark twisted nether to wreak having upon unsuspecting mortals. And yet, he had no interest in such things. The summoner, an overly ambitious and entirely inexperienced lad who made the understandable mistake of trying to summon something far too powerful for him, had of course flubbed the spell. Algol had been driven mad as he was ripped from his dimension and the energies created by his summoning had instantly overpowered and killed the young man. Now he was trapped in this cave, purposeless, and quite out of his mind. |
Eve stood approximately ten feet from the cave entrance, holding a map in her leather-gloved hands. She brushed the long strands of silvery violet hair out of her lilac eyes as she examined the map, concentrating on one specific point.
"If I'm right... the treasure I'm looking for should be in this cave" She said to herself, glancing into the dark abyss. It had been two years since she set off on her journey throughout the world. She had left her small village with nothing other than a sturdy longbow made of Yew Wood, a quiver of two hundred arrows, and the elegant wool clothes she wore now, expecting to return in five years bringing treasures galore. So far, she had found absolutely nothing, yet this did not discourage her. "Let's hope that this is the real deal..." She said as she took her first step towards the cave. She replaced the map in her hands with her bow, and a single iron-tipped arrow. Slowly, she entered the cave. |
Algol was less than aware that a tiny jeweled knife was hidden somewhere in the cave. It was worthy of note that this knife was actually a key, used to unlock a massive chest of riches in a city almost two hundred miles from the cave's location. He was at the moment chomping down a large bat that he had caught out of the air. He was far from the entrance, in its darkest, deepest bowels. However, he ate so loudly that Eve's senses probably picked up the sound of him snarfing the poor animal down.
|
Eve stopped dead in her tracks when she heard the sound of Algol feasting on the bat. Chills ran up her back as she listened. "Well... looks like I was right to bring along some weaponry..." she said.
She looked around, taking in her surroundings. It was nearly pitch black where she was, so she couldn't see farther than a few centimeters in front of her. "What a time to forget a torch..." She said. She crouched down and started to walk towards the bone-crunching sound, going deeper and deeper into the cave. Soon, she could not see anything, which worried her. She was never fond of the dark. Truth be told, she hated and feared it in its entirety. In a nearly silent voice, she asked herself, "Should I go back?" Her fear was starting to make her shake, as if she were a leaf in the wind, ready to fall off its branch. She shook her head, remembering her promise to her family. "I can't stop now..." She said as she continued her trek into the cave. |
Algol was not entirely immortal. He could not die, of course, but he could feel pain, he felt hot, and cold. Nor could he see in total darkness. It was for this reason that he had a series of enchanted flames to light up his cave. It also would attract many curious adventurers or animals to his lair--all of which would be eaten. This was of course because most of them were big, strong, fearless men, out to find treasure or slay a monster. Little did they know their lives might have been spared...if they were only small, willowy young women.
|
Eve continued on in the pitch darkness, amazed that she hadn't ran into a rockwall yet. Soon, she was able to see the dim light of the enchanted flames. "Is that... light?!?" She yelled. She started running towards it as the room got brighter and brighter. The treasure must be in there! she thought.
She didn't care that the sound of Algol feasting was getting louder and louder. She just wanted to get out of the darkness. Just before she entered Algol's lair, her hands were shaking so badly from her mixed feelings of fear and excitement that she dropped her bow and the arrow she was holding. |
Algol's sensitive ears immediately picked up the sound. He turned about, his red eyes narrowing. A low growl rumbled in his throat. "What's there? Who's there? More food? Some fool who's come to end his life for glory or riches? Come and face me!"
|
Eve froze as she heard Algol. She turned to face him, frightened more than she had ever been in her entire life. When she saw him, she immediately dropped onto her butt, startled by the sight of him. Her mouth gaped open, and a cold sweat ran down her face.
"I-I-I am E-Eve Sa-Sa-Saminil." She managed to say. The fear built up inside her made her involuntarily wet herself. "P-please... D-d-d-don't eat muh-me" She looked around for her bow, and saw it by the entrance to the cave. |
"And I am Algo...Algol th...nnnnrgh!" The demon had approached, but suddenly clutched his head, as a blinding pain overtook him. For you see, as he had been dragged out of the twisting nether, his spirit had become intermingled with another's--that of a grieving elven father who had lost his toddler daughter. Algol had never known this, for of course he had never actually looked upon a young elven woman since his summoning. But now that he saw Eve, the spirit that was intertwined with his soul was now taking over. His urge to kill was rapidly fading...replaced by a strange nurturing urge. "I...rrrgh..." He lifted his head to look upon her again, his eyes softer now. "My...my little one? Is that you?"
|
Tears were building up in Eve's eyes. She slid backwards into the wall of the cave, not hearing the change in Algol's voice, and not noticing the softer look in his eyes. She was too scared to notice the changes. "Please... Don't hurt me..." She said, as the salty tears started rolling down her cheeks. She started crying at the thought of her demise.
