Kayla was waiting on the other side of the door. Daemon had invited her over because he won the lottery and apparently he was throwing some kind of party to celebrate, though she figured he should probably be doing something useful with his money, like investing it, or something like that. Though as soon as she rang the doorbell she immediately heard the sound of feet rushing over to open the door.
