bonded by love, not by blood
in a world ruled my magic, and lorded over by it's users, in a derelict part of a small country town, lay an orphanage. within, watched over by the cruel, militant matrons, were those without so much as a family, and those disowned or disavowed by their kin. some were even both, discarded by the more bigoted or less morally minded magical familys for reasons outside of their control, before they were even old enough to understand, or object. one resident of this place, this home of the forgotten and cast aside, named Jacob was laying on his bed, pouting. "stupid matrons an their stupid blindfold rule.." he muttered, idly scratching at a blindfold the matrons had forced onto him due to..well, a bit of a problem he'd caused. see, Jacob had special magic. he wasn't exactly sure how to control it, but..if he looked someone straight in the eyes, and focused he could do things. and, even under the blindfold he could see fine. but they had it on him because he'd caused a kid who was bullying him and a friend to drop to the ground in painful spasms, clawing at his own eyes.
