Jon saluted again. “I thank you for your words, Lord Stannis. And I agree… the threat from beyond the Wall is far greater than anything to the south. The Free Folk realize this, and I believe most of my black brothers know it in their hearts as well. If we work together, all of us, I’m certain we can…”

“You know nothing, Jon Snow.” From the far corner of the room, the Red Priestess Melisandre stepped forward, into the firelight from the hearth for the first time. She glanced at Ygritte and gave her a cold smirk, before looking Jon in the eye. “Don’t presume because you’ve killed a single White Walker you know anything about our plight. The night is dark and full of terrors.”

Her expression softened slightly. “The Lord of Light has chosen you for a special task in the fight against the Long Night, though I’ve not yet been able to see why. For now, you must write to your brother Robb at the Twins and bid him return to the North and reclaim Winterfell from the Boltons. My lord Stannis shall assist him, and perhaps your new friends from beyond the Wall shall do so as well. It must fall to another to cast down House Lannister… another chosen by the Lord of Light, coming from across the sea.”

“Ooh…” Sansa practically squealed with fascination at the story Lady Olenna described. She even wet her diaper a little more as she picked up her wolf plush and cuddled it in both arms. “That sounds a little like us, doesn’t it Margaery?” she asked sweetly. She gave the Rose of Highgarden a few more sweet, nuzzling kisses. Then, suddenly, she sighed. “Oh Margaery… I wish you didn’t have to marry Joffrey,” she said, wistfully. Indeed, only a few days ago, over some lemon cakes in the gardens of the Red Keep, she had confided in both Margaery and Olenna the truth about King Joffrey… that he was a monster. And the very following day, Margaery had confided in Sansa about her love of diapers and baby girl playtime. “I wish we could just stay together and play in the maidenvault,” Sansa added. Then she cleared her throat and shook her head. “Forgive me, Lady Olenna… silly, childish, wishful thinking. Please, begin our story for tonight when you are ready,” she added, as politely as a little princess.

Silent and still, Missandei watched Queen Daenerys fall asleep in her arms. She sighed then, scarcely audibly so as not to wake Dany, and placed a very gentle kiss on her Queen’s forehead. Missandei herself eventually grew relaxed, in tune with the gentle rocking of the flagship. Good fortune was with them for the time being… the Narrow Sea was calm and the wind was favorable. Missandei silently prayed to the Lord of Light that her Queen’s good fortune would continue once they made landfall on Dragonstone. With these thoughts she herself eventually drifted off to sleep, but she didn’t release her tender and protective embrace of Dany for even an instant.

(I’m thinking right after this Jon can take Ygritte to his own chambers and Ygritte can finally get some enjoyment from her restraints. That alright?)
