Word after word slams into Jake making his face fall more and more. The six year old boy doesn't stand a chance against the 17 year old in a battle of wits, and Matt walked all over his logic so easily....once again another reminder of all the things the teen could think about that Jake's little-boy mind just didn't see. Jake was just taking it quietly, actually feeling ashamed of himself until one little sentence turned Jake's attitude like a flipped switch. Matt had asked 'Are you sure you aren't a baby?' and had hit one of Jake's most sensitive areas.

"I'm NOT a baby, I'm NOT!" Jake said with a glare, though his lip quivered. "Don't say I am!!!" he demanded angrily....though it was no use when he heard the words 'go to your room.' It was so no fair! He hadn't meant to make a mess! "But Pokemon's not overrrr" he pleaded...but that also was no use. Jake stomped his foot but knew it wouldn't change his brother's mind, and he shuffled his feet angrily towards the door. He turned around to say "You're no fair! I hope it takes forever t'clean it all up!" hoping to get the last word, but his voice betrays him as he chokes up at the end, tears rolling down his cheeks, trying to keep the 'crying' out of his voice but failing. And then Jake stormed up the stairs, ran into his room, and jumped onto his bed, burying his head into a pillow.

It WASN'T his fault...it WASN'T...Jake kept telling himself, angry and upset. He wasn't a baby...just because he didn't think of some stupid stuff....it wasn't fair. How could Matt make him miss his favorite show? he was so mean...Jake muttered "I hate you Matt!" into his pillow, frowning and wishing his Mommy was home and that he wasn't left with a mean dumb stupid brother as a babysitter. He stuck his thumb in his mouth for comfort and lay on his bed still crying a bit.

"I think you'll find that you are, now go to your room." Matt muttered as he went to look for cleaning supplies. Which took some effort as he couldn't seem to find just where they were, or the proper kind to use on carpet..If they weren't labeled as such he figured they shouldn't be..After all he didn't want to make things worse. After awhile he groaned and called his Mother's cellphone to see if she could tell him what he might use to clean a carpet with spilled milk.

And after a conversation that was much to long for what he required, Matt brought in a variety things, along with his Ipod and headphones to listen too as he pat, and scrubbed away at the spill after picking up all the pieces of cereal. And of course his Mother being who she was spared no expense in keeping things nice looking. To the fact that she owned a carpet cleaner, the sort of which stores rent out. Matt then ran over the stain multiple times for quite some time, and then did the second cycle just to be sure.

Jake spent the whole time up in his room....eventually his eyes were all cried out. And so he sat on the floor with his pokemon toys...but he just couldn't have fun playing with them. He was still fuming mad. How could Matt do that to him? Why couldn't he just go away, Jake thought to himself with a frown. He lay down on the carpet in frustration, waiting for Matt to come and release him from his room. But it felt like it had been hours....at least to the six year old boy.

Hmph...Jake thought to himself. He bet that the spill wasn't even that bad. Matt probably was going to keep him here all day. And then what? What if he had to go potty? Jake would have an accident and then Matt would have to clean it and then he'd make Jake stay in his room again and he would never get out and he'd be stuck there forever until his Mom came home....Jake pouted again, just staring at the door hoping it would open.

Matt took a good while cleaning things up. The spill was actually fairly deep and large considering it had been a decently sized bowl. He got a can of soda out of the fridge before heading up to his little brother's room, and opened the door after knocking. "Alright, do you understand why you were sent to your room? Because if you don't then..Well I won't go there." The teen said with a bit of after thought in his voice at the end, as he had thought of something really scathing to say to the boy, but in a rare moment of consideration he thought better of it, or rather almost bad.

Jake looked up from where he had his head on his hands when he heard the door open. He wasted no time glaring at his brother, and Matt could see that the little boy was holding a grudge for sure. Not that Jake could really do anything about it. He had no leverage over Matt without his mother around. The balance of power was clearly shifted.

"I got sent t'my room cause I made a mess" Jake recited slowly and obediently, knowing it was the right thing to say, but still feeling secretly that It was no fair and that Matt was just out to get him. Though his words were right, his eyes showed his glaring at his older brother. Finally he couldn't resist "---and cause you're no fair, and mean, and cause you wanted me t'miss Pokemon cause you don't like it" he added with an indignant pout

Matt nodded along with what the little boy had said at first, and even thought he might have made some progress with the boy despite the fact he knew Jake didn't mean what he was saying. He was about to say so when the second part came out, when the older brother simply met the smaller one's eyes calmly. He laughed at the second thing Jake said, and walked in his direction.

"You really don't get it do you? Well let me put it this way. I'm not some simple villain like Team Rocket. And life isn't like your silly cartoons. In the real world there are things called consequences. Matt began while gesturing with his hands to separate the two things. When you break a rule set by society you are punished. Mom and Dad have a rule about not bringing your food into the living room. You broke that rule, their trust, and mine. For that you were sent to your room as punishment. Mom's favoring of you is more unfair than anything, things don't work like that in the real world." He said while poking the little boy in the forehead. And would have went on but he could see he was losing Jake's attention. "Now, tell me truth. Have you learned your lesson? And are you ever going to do that again?" The older brother finished as he knelt down to Jake's level.

Jake looked at Matt, listening as he lectured. Matt was talented at putting things in a way Jake could understand, perhaps because as a teenager his own childhood was not as far off as it had been for Jake's mother. Things such as putting in references to Pokemon did help Jake understand, though it was clear from his pout that had been on his face since the bowl of milk was found that he didn't want to. But a six year old boy could only stand and listen to a lecture for so long. By the end, Jake was barely processing what was being said to him until the poke on the forehead broke him back into it.

When Matt kneeled down, Jake merely looked at him for a few seconds. He looked away at first and just said "Whatever...." but then looked back up at Matt knowing that he didn't have a choice as Matt was insisting. He had lost and it was better to just admit it (And besides Matt wasn't yelling at him or insulting him right now which made Jake actually start to kind of slightly listen to what was being said.) Jake finally answered with his head down in that scolded little-kid voice..."Yes, I learned my lesson...I'll never ever do it again." he said obediently hoping it could all be over now

Matt was actually surprised that sort of approach had really seamed to work. Perhaps there was actually something to restraining himself. Either way he still owed his friend he'd been texting while cleaning a thank you. She had encouraged him to handle the next interaction like this...And with a little convincing he gave it a try..But the next part could be harder...

The older brother sighed, and nodded..But he was instructed to seal the deal as they say. And with children, depending on how they were, there was only a few way's to do that. "Have you now? Well..Do you promise?" He inquired while holding out his little finger, hoping he didn't have to recite the words, but if he had to he would...After all the silly gesture was nearly sacred to children.

Jake had been looking down, but he looked up when Matt held out his finger. Jake just looked at it, regarding it for a couple seconds. He had never been asked by Matt to pinky swear...he bit his lip for a second. It was one thing to say that he would never do it again. For most little boys however, "I'll never do it again" usually didn't mean exactly what it sounded like and usually roughly translated to 'I'm not going to do that again within the next five minutes.' But a pinky swear was absolutely unbreakable. A binding promise. To a little boy a pinky swear was the unbreakable vow - the sacred law. To break it was unheard of. It would be the ultimate betrayal of trust.

Slowly Jake looked his brother in the eye and stuck his much tinier hand out and wrapped his cold little pinky finger in his brother's. Compared to Matt's rough, firm and calloused from guitar laying pinky, Jake's felt so soft smooth and delicate - the smallest part of the tiny boy's body. It was of course ridiculous to the older teen to see how serious and firm Jake's face was as he made the motion. To a teenager, this was a silly useless gesture - but to a little boy like Jake this was serious business and a sacred vow. "Pinky swear" Jake said solemnly nodding his head.

Matt couldn't believe what a brilliant thing to take advantage of this was...Despite how stupid he felt doing a 'pinky swear' he expected the results to be quite worth the small inconvenience. Perhaps dealing with children was a whole lot easier then he originally thought..As he was coming to think they were quite simple minded. "Pinky swear indeed.." He sighed while standing up. "Now, I forgive you. So you can go..Play..Or what ever..But, and listen this time. Please try, as in make an effort to, stay out of trouble." Matt said at one point turning the boy's head to look up at him.

With that he sighed and went to the music room of the house which contained a host of other instruments..His parents were both affluent, and musicians them selves. It was only natural that there was a piano, a few sets of drums, and a host of other instruments along with an area set up to record. Matt was currently going there to mess about with the drum set, which he could play somewhat, but not with as much skill as his Father.
