Heaven and Hell: A Super Smash Brothers RP (private with theJozza)

Samus Aran sat in a corner in the Smash Manor locker room, dressing in her elaborate, highly effective Chozo armor. Sparks flew in several directions as she fixed the dings and scratches that she found as she put on each individual plate, missing her ship's ability to put all of this stuff on for her. She was set to battle Bayonetta, a demon-summoning witch and living innuendo, in a bet to see whether magic or technology would prevail. It wasn't really an argument, as far as Samus saw it, more a way to test her mettle against the unexplained phenomenon that she had never seen before coming here, and to try and ignore her opponent's taunts, which got under her skin like armor-penetrating rounds.

She saw Palutena, the person who proposed the match in the first place, waltzing over to her. As always, she walked as though her body weighed no less than light, with perfect form and intent with every mood. Samus had trouble reading it, however, likely due to the godly rays obscuring her vision.

"Hey," She said in a blank monotone, fusing the hi-jump attachment to her left boot, "Wanting to say something?"

Palutena as always has a bright smile on her face as she approaches Samus, laying a hand on her shoulder. The goddess had been making quite the stir lately ever since she and Bayonetta went public with their relationship. Granted, Smash Bros contestants hooking up was by now means new, but the two of them took "opposites attract" to whole new levels.

"Oh just wanted to check that your preparations were going all right," the Green-Haired goddess says cheerfully. "Also I do hope you aren't upset about this. It's not that we don't think your equipment is lacking or weak, but you know how competitive Netty can be." Palutena chuckles as she uses her girlfriend's pet name. "I promise she didn't mean to insult you or anything with that trash talk of hers. Oh and she did want me to make sure you understood the stakes of your little wager." She asks, again maintaining a complete air of tranquility and innocence. Said wager had been that if Samus were to win the match Bayonetta would be her personal maid for said weekend, but if she lost she'd have to spend the weekend at Bayonetta and Palutena's apartment, which she and everyone else who heard the bet assumed was an equal exchange....if a little unnecessarily vague.

"That worst case I have to stay in my room," Samus replied, "and best case, I don't have to put my armor on anymore? Yeah, I like those odds."

She didn't smile once. She was definitely confident she would win, but fighting was just fighting. Winning or losing didn't mean too much to her, especially with the stakes so seemingly low.

"Anything else?" She asked, "I'm on in three."

"Oh no, just checking in," Paultena says, pulling her hand back and walking away with a friendly wave. "Best of luck to you." She walks away, holding in a giggle both and Samus clearly not considering the possible ramifications of this bet and that she didn't notice the slightly blue sheen that had gone over her armor once Palutena had touched it.

(Oh look at me, cheating of all things,) she thinks to herself as she watches Samus fully dawns her armor and heads toward the ring. (Maybe Pip's right about Netty being a bad influence on me..) she finally giggles out loud a bit as Samus gets out of earshot. (But frankly, it's worth it to get my hands on that little cutie.)

In the right Bayonetta is already waiting, absentmindedly twirling one of her pistols. Upon seeing Samus approaching she smiles.

"So glad you made it, luv," She coos, as she draws her other pistol and gets into a ready stance. "Now let's see if that fancy metal suit of yours is all it's cracked up to be."

As the numbers tick down, and the announcer starts blaring, Samus stares back at Bayonetta, unable to conjure a response. She'd never found pregame taunts to be worth anything. She raised her head, and aimed her Armgun out, ready to challenge her opponent, and blast her with a missile at point blank range.

"ONE!"

And with the sound of the announcer starting to fight, she lunged herself forward, opening her missile canister...

And launching a translucent orb, that burst into water and rubber "shrapnel" as it hit Bayonetta's skin...

"Huh?"

She tried to fire all of her suits systems, only for several, ineffective varieties of water spraying out of her suit. Her screw attack turned her into a living sprinkler, her bombs laid dormant, flopping on the ground, never to detonate their watery interior.

She saw Bayonetta's grin, and not the portal that was appearing behind her.

Bayonetta does her best and manages to hold back the laughter at seeing the outcome of Palutena's "pep talk" with Samus.

(Oh that darling, little goddess), She thinks to herself as she appears behind Samus. (I always knew she was a born trickster underneath that oh so holy exterior. I'll have to reward her handsomely tonight...first things first though...) Her foot glows with crimson energy as she slams it into the confused Samus, knocking her into the air. Before the stunned bounty hunter can even hit the ground, Bayonetta swarms her with light barrages from her pistols. She finishes this with a strike from above sending Samus careening into the stage and towards the edge.

Palutena watches the one-sided fight from the waiting area.

(Now don't be too rough with her Netty), she thinks to herself, as many of the other fighters depart, as at this point everyone can tell how this is going to end. (After all, we don't want her too beat up or upset for the weekend). Though she was starting to feel a little worse about the trick she'd played on Samus' armor.

Samus crashed from the edge of the stage back onto the center of the arena, Dazed. Her armor had stopped working entirely, as she tried to move her body against the heavy metal of the advanced machinery that surrounded her Zero Suit. She couldn't get up, only keep her head in the same awkward position, looking up at Bayonetta from behind the visor.

"What..." She grunted, struggling to catch her breath, "Happened..."

"You lost, darling," the witch says in a rather patronizing tone. "It seems this armor you're so fond of failed you quite dismally." Bayonetta reaches down and pulls Samus to her feet, removing her helmet.

"Oh there you are," Palutena says, running up around the corner. "Are you all right Samus? That was a pretty rough match," the goddess says with genuine concern, before turning to Bayonetta and crossing her arms. "Honestly, Netty there was no reason to go so intense with her. You knew she couldn't fight back..."

"Sorry, luv, you know how I get in that arena," Bayonetta shrugs. "Now come on and help me get this silly, broken armor off her." Palutena sighs and shakes her head, but goes to help Bayonetta start to gently remove the pieces of Samus' suit.

"Wait, how could she have known?" Samus asked, "Did you set me up?"

Samus, down to her Zero Suit, tried to get up, but found herself too weak to do so. It seemed the weight of her unaided suit had left her a bit fatigued.

"That wasn't a fair fight!" She growled, "I could get you disquali-"

She remembered, in that moment, that this match was a casual, off the books one. All bets were off. She couldn't do a thing.

"Oh...well," Palutena blushes a bit as she fumbles a bit with the last piece of Samus armor. While Bayonetta had helped her overcome her inhibitions a little, being called out on it still had a pretty disorienting effect on her. Fortunately for her, Bayonetta steps behind Samus, taking hold of her shoulders.

"Now, now, poppet no need to be a sore loser," She coos patronizingly, while a couple of portals start to open beneath them. "After all, technically speaking the nature of this challenge was to see whether your technology or our magic was more reliable, and I think we've proven that quite handily." She smirks as one of the portals opens, hair tendrils grabbing all of Samus' armor and pulling it. "Oh and before you say anything don't worry, I just sent your toys back to your room. You won't be needing them for the weekend after all." She smiles now as the other portal starts sending out tendrils that grab hold of Samus."

"Please don't be mad Samus," Palutena says, walking up and starting to stroke her cheek. "I promise you'll have a really nice time this weekend." She smiles as she vanishes in a flash of light and Bayonetta expands the portal for both her and Samus to fit through.
