The Stare (For Abnormal One)
It was early evening. The sun was just starting to set beyond the horizon and some Pokemon were already sleeping or getting ready to do so. It was mostly quiet outside aside from the sound of wind blowing through the trees and grass.
This was a world of Pokemon, and there wasn't a single human to disturb the piece, but that didn't mean that the world wasn't disturbed anyway. There were these strange places called mystery dungeons, but you've already heard of those dungeons. There was one special dungeon though, and it was called "The Stare." It was recently discovered by Pokemon that lived in a village not too far away.
It was called "The Stare" because of the entrance of the dungeon looking like the front of a human skull. What made it creepy was that on every full moon, the moon would reflect off of gems in the "eye sockets" of the entrance, causing it to look like the cave was staring at anyone who looked at it. As upsetting as it was, that wasn't enough to spook people from getting close.
The first people who got close was a team of two dragon-type explorers literally named "Dragon's Eye." They were different from most exploration teams. They would find recently discovered dungeons and search through them, noting the Pokemon, type of Pokemon, geography, traps and so on. Needless to say, their job took a long time because it would sometimes involve going down tones of floors or dealing with the local Pokemon in there.
One of the members on the team was a male, shiny Flygon who wore a Defense Scarf. He was young and not too big, but nor was he all that small either. His bag rested on the side of his chest as he wore it around his neck in a way that had it at his side at all times. His badge was hooked too his scarf firmly. He went by the name of Yiro.
Yiro was an average guy, although he did seem somewhat shy, but daring. With those kind of traits, he's been known to surprise people quite a bit. Out of his shell, he's nice and sometimes attempts to be the funny guy, but he's considerate too, meaning he knows when to stop talking...sometimes. He was also easy to scare and embarrass, but he isn't overly emotional. Other than that...he's your standard guy.
---
Now, this was a team of two, so of course he had a partner to chat to. "So...are you ready to head into The Stare?" He asked with a slight smile towards his partner.

The other half of this rather unique rescue team was a female Dragonite. By Dragonite standards she was a little on the small size, however she made up for this by working twice as hard as everybody else. Her name was Abigail but she much rather preferred to be called Abby. Only those who were very close to her were allowed to use her full name.
She wore a sizeable backpack that was in all honesty too big for what they needed. She figured that the more weight she had to carry, the stronger she would be for the effort. Liking to strike with powerful attacks, she adorned an attack scarf to further enhance her strength. Besides being a hard worker, she was both determined and demonstrated great leadership qualities. She was also quite fearless - if you ever saw her to be visibly worried then something was very very bad. Despite her fearless and determined nature, she didn't take herself too seriously.
"I was born ready" she nodded confidently to her partner, giving him a smile. "Not sure what all the fuss about this place is about. "Let's not stare-ned around any longer" she suggested, making a play on words regarding 'The Stare' and 'Standing'. She thought that her own jokes were incredibly amusing but more often than not they were quite terrible.

Yiro, despite his shy little shell, wasn't exactly the one for jokes like that, so he couldn't help but roll his eyes. He didn't comment on that though as he didn't exactly want to make her mad. Last thing he wanted was to get one of those glares from her that pretty much told him that he was in a whole lot of trouble later on.
He shivered a bit after saying its name. "Just thinking about that place actually creeps me out a bit. The fact that the cave looks like it's staring at you through the dark of the night just sort of makes you feel like...like something is going to come after you when you least expect it." Yiro said.
"But it probably isn't that bad...I hope. Anyway, it isn't too far from this place, so we can probably just walk over there." Yiro said with a smile after recovering from that terrible joke she had made. "What exactly do you think that we're going to find in that place? I would imagine that there would be ghost and dark type pokemon, but...some places really can surprise you, especially a place like The Stare when it's the first thing you see at night."

"Don't worry Yiro, I'm sure it just looks scary from the outside is all. You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover" Abby nodded to him as she waved a claw around in a factual sort of manner. She was already starting to lead him over to where the entrance was, her long dragon tail wagging excitedly back and forth.
"I guess regarding what we might find in there.. Um.. I think that dark and ghost types would be likely yes. Basically any Pokemon that enjoys hanging around in creepy places" she nodded to him. "Don't go peeing in fright or anything though, it's not like we aren't equipped to handle whatever this place can throw at us" she assured, giving him a thumbs up gesture.

Yiro's face turned red with embarrassment. "That only happened one time!" He immediately said. "And th-that was because I wasn't expecting something so loud and terrifying to suddenly pop out in front of me like some sort of jack-in-a-box!" He said as he walked at his side, giving her a pouty look and glare. Yiro could really be a kid sometimes too.
"Also, I know about the pokemon and stuff, it's sort of obvious. What I'm worried about is things like traps and other things, you know?" He asked with a light frown. "I don't exactly want to have a repeat of that one dungeon that kept bounding us down at the worst times." He said with a small sigh. "But I guess I'm just being paranoid now that I think about it. Sorry."

Abby smirked on Yiro's childishness, one of the characteristics in him she felt was rather endearing. Being stuck together in dungeons for long periods of time together meant that it was important they enjoyed each other's company.
"By way of traps I'm not really sure what to expect. Which is why the work we are doing is important" she reminded him, as if he could ever forget. She did visibly twitch a little though as he made her recall that one dungeon that kept wrapping them up and tying them down. "I'm sure whatever is in there won't be like 'that' dungeon at the very least"

"Well, I'm going to try and fly through the majority of this cave. I'm not going to deal with being tied down all those times again. I'm pretty sure you don't either considering all the times you got tied down and wound up having your butt in my face at the most random moments." He said with a slight smirk of his own, recalling those times very, very well.
"I have a feeling that this dungeon is going to be another one of those big ones, by the way. So I was sure to go ahead and stock up on food and stuff so that we don't wind up starving while we're in there. You and I already learned just how much of a pain that is from experience, along with a lot of other things."

Blushing notably as Yiro reminded her about more details of 'that' dungeon, she let out a little huff. "Regardless, I don't think we'll need to deal with traps like that here. They'll probably be creepier and more unusual I'd guess. Staying in the air wouldn't be a bad thing anyway, lest we end up in a torture device or something unusual like that" she agreed, tapping her cheek a little while speaking.
"I have plenty of supplies also, hence this really big pack" Abby informed him, shuffling a little as she readjusted how the straps were sitting on her shoulders. "Anyway there's no use standing around here talking now, let's just get the job done" she added in an upbeat manner as they had approached the entrance. It didn't look any more inviting up close than it did from a distance, that was for sure.

Once they reached the entrance of the cave, Yiro couldn't help but stare up at the eyes of the skull shaped entrance. "God this place still creeps me out, and it doesn't help that we're going inside." He said with a light, worried frown on his face as they eventually stepped into the cave. It wasn't long before he began using his wings to go ahead and carry him a few feet above the cave floor.
"I think you should lead the way on this. The leadership role actually fits you pretty well." He said with a light smile on his face that was slightly forced. Even the quiet dripping of water on the ceiling over the cave managed to unsettled him. A good leader would be disturbed by something like that unless it actually met something. Besides, if he was the leader, they'd probably faint the second the fought a pokemon.

Using her own wings to fly alongside him, Abby looked around the rather dank cave with interest. It was a little spooky sure, but it didn't really live up to the hype that the creepy entrance had built up to it at least in her opinion.
"Sure, in that case I'll take the lead and you can follow behind to document our findings" Abby nodded, smiling at him quite genuinely. "There doesn't really seem to be much to this floor though, I bet all the menacing stuff is further down" she told him with a little laugh, finding it fun to imagine what sort of danger they would get into.
Even if she was being slightly overconfident, she was still vigilant on keeping an eye out for traps or the like. Out of the corner of her eye she thought perhaps she saw a Pokemon disappear through a wall but it was too fast to see. "Damn.. That could have been useful research" she muttered to herself in annoyance.
