Looking for Answers in the Wired

Lily jumps a bit as she pulles her into her arms then relazes but looks confused "Hi"She said with a laugh.

She rolled her eyes "Dont worry so much I was just getting some coffee"She said not rilzing just how worried she was

Margaret glared at her. "Just getting coffee? You went out on your own, presumably on foot unless you borrowed my car without permission, at four in the morning, when its still pitch black out, for coffee!?" Her face was a picture of anger mixed with incredulity. "What is wrong with you Lily?! Apart from everything else, I have a perfectly good coffee maker right there!!!" She thrust her hand out angrily, pointing to a coffee maker that sat in the corner of the kitchen, out of the way till it was needed.

Lily had went out to take her mind off her night mare. She didnt like being yelled at like this it upset and anoyed her and was kinda scary. "Relax Marget I'm fine the coffee place wasn't too far my old area was way worse than this I can handle myself no need to worry ok"She said trying to clam her but talking for firmly than earlyer

"Of course I worry. My girlfriend is walking off by herself in the dark, I bloody well get worried. I don't care that your old neighborhood was bad, that just makes a habit of walking in the dark on your own really dumb. I thought I told you to tell me if you were going to go out." Margaret snapped back. She was being honest, the thought of Lily out in the night alone terrified her, and she didn't appreciate the pretty girl trying to minimize it.

This was pissing her off now she was more than capabel of handeling herself. This was when she said somthing she would regret. "I'm not a fucking child you have known me less than a week you dont have a say on when I bloody go out"She said. Right away she could tell she hit a nerv.

"It's common courtesy to tell your girlfriend you're leaving, and common sense not to go out alone at night! Do you even have a cellphone? What if you were hurt, how am I supposed to help you if I don't know where you are?" Margaret was livid. "You don't get to complain about being treated like a child when you act like one Lily!"

"oh yeah waking you up at 4 am just to say I am going out for coffee yeah thats normal . I was out for half a hour tops have some trust in me for fuck sake. I'm not acting like a child im acting like a normal idependant adult I dont know what you fucking see me as but I'm not as helpless as you think"She yelled back. She was now feeling burning beind her eyes but held back tears.

Time was getting on and Marget has to go to work

"Oh you are so agravating you stubborn little...argh!!!" Margaret growled in exasperation. Why couldn't the girl see she was just trying to take care of her? Why did Lily find her help so objectionable? She let out a frustrated sigh.

She walked out into the kitchen and took a drink of water to calm herself down, then turned to face Lily. "I have to go to work early this morning, one of my clients needed to see me, and then I have a few others to meet with. I'll be back early this afternoon. I prepared some sandwiches for your lunch last night, they're in the fridge on a tray, and there's cereal in that cuppard." She pointed to a small cuppard in one corner. "Or maybe you'd rather go out for breakfast?" Her voice was bitter.

She turned to walk down the hall. "I apparently can't really stop you from doing anything dangerous, but try not to get murdered or burn down the house alright?" With that final shot Margaret finished getting dress, grapped some things she'd need, and walked out the front door, locking it behind her without even bothering to say goodbye.

Lily just stood and glared at her. Once she left she let the hurt seep in. The cold bitter way she talked to her hurt her deeply. Lily sat and let the tears flow for a bit.She then decied she needed to do somthing to take her mind off it so started cleaning hen rest of the house.

As she was claening she noticed a room she had never been in before. Very slowly she went in and gasped. She was now in a full size adult baby nurisery. It wasnt lik the fake ones on line this one was warm and very tast full painted in light pastal colours. Lily looked around confused untill she saw a photo of Marget and her ex and she understood now. Lily had herd of this kinda thing before. This is why she is so protective she thought now feeling very very guilty that is when her plan came to mind.

Lily quickly went out and picked a big bunch of Lily's. She then carfuly dropped the petels into the dining toom and put the rest into a buka for Marget. She then blushed and started step two. She wnet into the baby room and dressed herself in a babino diaper, a baby pink hello kitty t shirt, white cotton tights and a over all skirt with little hearts on it. It all fit her perfectaly. She looked in the mirror and blushed but knew she had to do it for Marget. She ordered some pizzaa and payed for it ( which was very embarssing ). By the time she was done she had just enough time to write a note for her and stick it on the door.

The note said " dear Marget I'm sorry about early. I understand now. I hope this will make up for it love Lily"

She then stood holing the flowers with a bottle of red wine out and the pizzaa and a baby bottle of milk for her. She stood with the flowers in one hand and her kitty in the other and waited.

Margaret spent the morning working. She didn't think about Lily, she didn't think about the fight, she simply worked. There was nothing but her clients, no fear, no anger, just people who had problems she was being paid to solve. She had skipped breakfast so she had to stop for lunch, but had fast food because she wanted to keep working.

Working so hard meant she got done earlier than expected. She felt much better, and also a bit ashamed. For one thing she shouldn't have lost her temper and yelled at Lily like that, the poor girl had been through enough in her life as is.

Moreover, Lily was right. She wasn't a baby and Margaret shouldn't treat her like one. However much she wanted to mother her girlfriend, it wasn't fare to force that on her if she didn't want it. Nor was it right to disrespect her independence and the fact that she had managed to take care of herself up till now.

So using the extra time she had Margaret made a few stops and picked up some things as an apology gift for Lily. First she got the girl a cellphone, it was pretty easy her plan already allowed her to get a second in case she needed it. The phone was black in color, which she hoped would appeal to Lily.

She also stopped by a clothing store and picked up a black jacket for Lily. Then she stopped by a sporting good store and got a can of mace. Finally she stopped by the grocery store for a box of chocolates.

She figured it would be a good apology gift. A jacket, some mace and cell phone to indicate that she understood that Lily could go out on her own and Margaret had no right to impinge on her independence, but should also reinforce that she cared for the girl and wanted her to be safe. And chocolates cause they were sweet and romantic.

She parked her car and walked up to the front door, rehearsing the apology she was going to give Lily, when she saw the note.

What did Lily understand now? And what had made her change her mind? Had Margaret made a mistake?

Deciding that it was silly to try and second guess her friend Margaret opened the door and closed it behind her. She'd talk to Lily and just let things work out. She noticed a trail of petals leading into the dining room. Romantic, but odd.

She wasn't sure what to expect, and was totally blown away to see Lily standing there dressed in the baby clothes she'd bought for Tanya, her old girlfriend. "Lily?"
