Junior's eyes widened when the ember hitted his partner as it cried out. 'Chespin!'

"Ooh no!" He exclaimed fidgeting a bit and panting some. "Okay uhh..Chespin, Vine Whip..?!" He ordered which he pointed at the fox. "Ches-!" Chespin said as its hand started to glow and form a vine-like form and lash at the fox. "Pin!"

Fennekin tried dodging, but the attack was too fast so the vine connected with the fox Pokemon. "Kin!" it cried out in distress as it was hit. "Oh no!" Melissa gasped, putting her hands up to her mouth. She seriously underestimated how powerful that Chespin could be. Since Chespin was surprisingly powerful, Melissa decided to go on the defensive. "Fennekin, use Growl!" she said, causing her Pokemon to snarl threateningly and reduce Chespin's attack power.

Junior beamed a little bit on that attack. "Woah! ...Awesome." He said smiling a little before noticing the growl which he blinked. "Uh ooh..uhh, Chespin use Growl!" Junior ordered which Chespin shivered on that but nodded and snarled in return which reduced the Fennekin's attack a bit.

Melissa frowned as Fennekin's attack fell. Their Pokemon were too evenly matched. She thought Fennekin's type advantage would win her the fight pretty easily, but this Chespin was bulkier than she gave it credit for. She needed a decisive hit and she needed it now. "Fennekin, use Tackle!" she said, risking it all on one last charge. "Fennekin!" her Pokemon said with a gleam in its eye. As it charged Chespin, the hit was significantly more powerful than a normal tackle; it was a Critical Hit.

Junior was a bit surprised on the situation so far, their partners are equally matched in a way. He always thought that Fennekin would beat his Chespin easily but instead...tables have changed. "Chespin!" It cried out in distress on the strong hit which made Junior eeped. "Woah!" He exclaimed as his partner was down to one knee. "That was a critical..?!" He bit his lips and felt a bit frantic but he pointed out to the fox. "Tackle it, Chespin!" He ordered desperately. "Ches..." It replied as it got up and charged at it with all of its might. "Piiiiin!"

"Huh? He's still up?!" Melissa said, quite shocked at the Chespin's resilience. Once Chespin tackled Fennekin she thought it was all over, but at that moment, he was hit with a burn from the Ember. The dust clouds settled and both Pokemon were on the floor, fainted. It was a draw.

"Aww!" Melissa pouted. "I was sure I was gonna win that one." However, she wasn't a sore loser, and went to shake Nicks hand. "Good battle Nick! I mean, holy wow! You were pretty incredible out there! " Melissa gushed at get childhood friend.

Junior pondered how his Chespin was still standing, maybe its on eof those types that can take alot of punishment? He wasn't certain. He grunted when the dusts came through and settled only to notice both of their partners were down.

"Awwww!" Junior whined a bit. "I didn't think that was gonna happen...ahh well." He sighs that it was now a total double knockout before looking to his friend and blushes. "Err...th-thanks, you're pretty great than i am..." He replied as he shook on that nervously, not one to recieve praises of any sort.

"Thankies!" Melissa giggled. Unlike Nick, she wasn't adverse to receiving praise.

Professor Sycamore nodded in approval at the two trainers. "Great job you two! You both performed admirably and really connected with your Pokemon. " he said proudly. "Speaking of Pokemon, let me get yours healed, " he said, returning them to their Pokeballs and placing them again on the pedestal. He pressed a button, and the whirring of some machinery could be heard. Eventually, a ding sounded, signaling that the healing was done.

The Professor handed them both their Pokemon and then asked, "Now, would you like to give your partners a nickname? "

"Ooh ooh, I wanna call her Flamie!" Melissa said, taking about her Fennekin.

"You're welcomes." Junior nodded and blushed a bit more on the giggling.

He perked a bit and looked to the professor as his partner is placed with his friend's on the pedestal, who were now back in their pokeballs. He looked surprised on that the pedestal is also a healing station, kind of a shocker.

He blinked and looked down to his partner he was given back. "Well...i think i'll name him...Chester." Junior said as that will be a new name for his starter.
