its a grey area, but l guess as long as permission was granted and credit is given to the original artist then l guess it should be ok.

It's not different from fanart, which in some but, not all countries means, it's technically illegal, thought you will probably get away with it. If you choose do, give creit to the original artist.

my best suggestion is to make sure you specify that its just a colouration and that you arent the artist.
