Lucinda sat in her home office, taking a break from working so hard. Since the divorce, she had to become the provider which caused her to be absorbed in her work and not her son. She regretted throwing herself into her work so much and not spending time with her son but every time she tried to bond with him, he'd reject her slowly and carry on with his life.

Sam slammed the door as he walked into the house coming from middle school. He threw his bookbag and took his shoes off at the door. He went right for the couch as he plopped down on it, cutting on the t.v.

Lucinda sighed as she heard the door close loudly. She stood up and decided to greet her son. Even though everyday, he would ignore her she would still ask him how his day was. She went down the stairs and smiled warmly. Of course, he had caused her headache to worsen but she loved him too much to care.

Sam notched his mom looking at him.
"What's for dinner." Sam said very bluntly.

Lucinda's smile faltered a bit.
"I was thinking about ordering pizza. I still have work to do so.... What toppings would you like?" she asked.

"It doesn't matter mom. Just order the pizza....please. If you need me. I'll be up in my room." Sam said as he walked up the stairs and closed his door. He left his mess and left the living room like a wreck.

Lucinda looked at the mess with wide eyes. She took a calming, deep breath and picked it up. How was she going to get closer to her son if all he ever did was walk away.....? Maybe they just wouldn't be close.... She frowned at the thought and called the pizza man. Se ordered a medium pizza for Sam and decided she wouldn't eat.

Sam was in his room listening to music on his head phones. The stress of middle school was taking a toll on him mentally and physically. With the stress of all his advance classes and trying to keep up with his traveling soccer team, and trying be friends with the popular kids it was tough on him. He just waited until the pizza could get here and he could finish his homework and relax.

When the pizza came, Lucinda checked it before paying the man. She closed the door and set the box on the table before going upstairs and knocking on Sam's door.
"Pizzas on the table, baby."

"Coming." Sam said as he came from his room and ran past his mom with out saying anything. He ran to the table and sat down and started to eat the pizza.
