How do you quote and multiquote here?

Hello,

I hope this isn't going to sound like a stupid question, but I want to know how you can quote as well as do multiple quotes of different users in one post. (WITHOUT clicking on the quote button).

I'm used to using another site's quoting system, where you just type it in with [ ] around it and the person's name and then [/quote] EX:

But when I clicked the quote button and looked at the code that you need to use for this sort of thing, it showed a series of numbers after the user's name.

Trying to quote without the numbers after the name doesn't seem to work...or at least, there's not a way that I can tell if it worked or not??, so I figure I'm doing something wrong. :/

Sorry, I know the answer's probably obvious. I've looked through the pages here and haven't found the answer and I tried to Google what to do but no luck.

Depends on if you want to link to the quoted post.

the bbcode to quote different users is

[*QUOTE=*users name here*]quoted text[/QUOTE*]

remove the "*" and add the username and it will work like the below

Bottom right of each message. One says quote while the other two are small icons. The first being multiquote. That means you click that and go to other peoples post and click who ever else you wish to MQ.

Or simply the code:

Of course this is reverse to have it not make a quote box on me, but have the last one first and the first last. The one with the line "/" always is the last and a closing code.

ah. well if you want to quote "and link" to specific posts then the code looks something like this

[*quote=<username here>;*post id here*]some text here [*/quote]

if l wanted to quote your post (the one directly above) to find the ID l would copy the link or open the link labelled "#4" on the line above your username which looks like the below:

http://diaperedanime.com/forum/showp...74&postcount=4

and from there l can see the post ID which is "1329874" and when l put the above together it produces the below.

(l had to remove some of the quote closing tags as it made too many quote which kinda messed with my example).
