The events of Battle of Gods takes place several years after the battle with Majin Boo, which determined the fate of the entire universe. Whis and Bills, the God of Destruction, are tasked with maintaining some sort of balance in the universe. After awakening from a long slumber, Bills is visited by Whis and he learns that the galactic overlord Freeza has been defeated by a Super Saiyan from the North Quadrant of the universe named Goku, who is also a former student of the North Kaiō. Thirty nine years ago, when infant Goku was found in the woods by Grandpa Gohan, the Oracle Fish told Bills by its prophetic powers that a strong opponent would appear before him. Bills tracks down this warrior, Goku on Kaiō-sama's planet with his ally, the mysterious Whis. Bills challenges Goku. Ecstatic over the new challenge, Goku ignores Kaiō-sama's advice and battles Bills, but he is overwhelmed and defeated. Bills then leaves, but his eerie remark of "Is there nobody on Earth more worthy to destroy?" lingers on. [4]
Seeking stronger warriors, Bills arrives on Earth. The heroes and their friends are at Capsule Corporation, where Bulma's birthday party is held. Bills faces and easily defeats them one after another - Kuririn, Super Saiyan Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and others. [5] Vegeta seems to have met Bills before.
The global phenomenon Dragon Ball is being made into a movie using Toei Animation’s latest technology, consistently realized as a Toriyama work, with the original author Akira Toriyama himself deeply involved from the script stage for the first time. An episode from between the animation series "Z" and "GT", or in other words from the blank decade between the end of the battle with Majin Boo in chapter 517 of the manga and chapter 518, will be depicted for the first time.
