James Micheals, a man of 24 years of age, drove down the empty city streets in the waking hours of the morning. It had been quite a good drive from his country home, but today was no ordinary day. Despite not finding the right partner to spend his life with, he very so much desired a daughter, and today he was going to the local cities foster home, where he hoped to find the little girl of his dreams. It was around ten AM when he arrived finding the lot to the home full of a few cars, most likely employees. Upon entering he was greeted by one of the workers there and led into the main room where he saw many young children walking around and playing.

Once James walked into the room, he would see many young children playing and laughing with each other. However, James would also see a significantly older girl reading a book by herself. Her name was Marissa Wright, and she was 16 years old. She had long blondish-brown hair and a pair of square glasses. She was wearing a white sundress with spaghetti straps. The book she was reading was "Green Eggs and Ham" (the best literature she could find), and she hid her face behind the book, revealing that she was quite shy.

James looked around at all the smiling faces of the young children, but the older girl in the corner definetely caught his eye. After inquiring about her. He was told that she had been there for a little over ten years, and no one had really been able to crack open her social shell. "Hmmm" he said as he walked over to the girl hiding her face. "Well Hello therer miss Marissa." he said gently as he knelt down so as not to be intimidating at his greater height. "I'm told that you are a very smart girl Marissa, is that so?" he asked as he tried to establish contact with her.

Once James walked over to her and started talking to her, Marissa almost jumped up in shock, giving out a small "Eep!" as she did so. "H-hi, I'm M-marissa," she said to James with a stutter in her voice, still hiding her face behind her book. "Y-y-yes sir, I'm s-smart," Marissa continued in response to James' question. Marissa was quite shy among new people, which is part of the reason why no one wanted to adopt her.

"Well I know I'm not that much older than you, but to be honest you seem like the perfect little girl." he said with a smile, "I have a lot more books in my study that you could read, a little incentive if you decide to come with me, plus i can put you in a good school district where I'm sure you will blossom and become a great intelligent young woman." he said kindly as he stood up and held out his hand, "all you have to do really is take my hand, and we can go on and get you out of here." he said with a smile.

Marissa's cheeks grew hot when she heard James' words. This stranger barely knew her, but he was willing to give her not only a place to live, but also books to read and a school to go to. This was everything she had been dreaming of! Plus, James seemed like a nice person and a great parent. So, Marissa decided to take his hand hesitantly in the hopes of a new life.

"Ah good, why don't you pack up your belongings while i get the paperwork done with ok?" he said with a smile. He watched her walk out and to what he presumed to be her room. After he was finished filling out all the paper work he waited for her in the main lobby. Eventually he saw her come out carrying what little belongings she had out with her. "Already to go then Marissa?" he asked as he stood up as she walked over, nervous clearly.

"Y-yes sir," Marissa said nervously. This was the first time she was leaving the center and really seeing the outside world, and she wasn't really sure what to expect. Marissa walked over to James slowly with a backpack strapped on her shoulders containing her belongings. She looked like a nervous little girl on her first day of school.

"Ah good, let's get going then, may I?" he asked as he took her hand in his and walked her out of the foster home. It did look cute to say, the short teenage girl being led by the slightly older man. "And let me get the door for you dear." he said as he opened the passenger side door of his car. As she got in he shut the door and got in himself. "Alright buckle up the drive to my house is about an hour and a half." he said as he set her backpack in the back seat.

Marissa looked at the interior of the car curiously as she sat down. 'So this is a car. Interesting,' Marissa thought to herself. She had heard of cars before, but this was her first time actually inside one. Living in an adoption center her whole life, Marissa didn't have many opportunities to explore the outside world, so her experiences were limited. However, she was a very curious and smart girl, capable of picking up what she was taught. Marissa buckled her seatbelt and waited for the journey to start.
